New Gaming PC - for 21"

Spectre

Skilled
I am planning to get a new gaming pc at my new place in KL, Malaysia

Every purchase would be done at LowYat

Budget: Nothing specific, just want a decent gaming rig for a 21" LCD playing all games at high settings. Nothing too extravagant.

As gaming time will be quite less and I am no more a graphics whore and play only selected genres, so just need something VFM

All prices in RM, 1 RM = 14.7 INR

Processor: need something new and bit powerful. Good enough to compliment mid range cards

Choices:

i3 - 2100 : 350

Mobo: As the proccy doesn't support OC, what would be best mobo choice ? i am not sure which chipset to go for.No CFX needed. A m-atx board would suffice

Choices:

MSI H67MA-E35 : 290

ECS H67H2-M3 : 280

RAM: As the selected board supports only 1333 Mhz DDR3

Choices:

Kingston 4GB*1 - DDR3 1333 : 120

Corsair 4GB*1 - DDR3 1333 : 120

Harddisk: I dont need a large storage, just for gaming and few movies

Choices:

Samsung SP F3 - 500GB : 115

Graphics Card: something good enough for HD gaming

Choices:

HIS 6850 1GB DDR5 : 550

HIS 6950 2GB DDR5 : 805

PSU:

Seasonic 500W Silence (A/80+) :195

LCD: 21" Full HD

Benq G2220HD : 400

Cabinet:

Cooler Master Elite 371 : 135

Please feel free to suggest any alternatives. I haven't been in the hardware scene for sometime now, so I need as much inputs as possible.

Even criticisms are welcome :p

Avoid ECS low end and go with MSI minumum. Ideally Asus or Gigabyte budget permitting.

One more suggestion is please get the i5 quad!!

HD6890 2GB @11.9k!! Lucky Bugger :) Though go with the HD6850 if you are not hard core gamer anymore!

Thanks DA

If I go for 2500, then i would get the k version for OC'ing, which again would need a better chipset and a cooling setup. Will add up a lot to the total cost

Instead, will it be better to invest a little more on a better gfx card like 6950

Which will be a better option ?

I intend to use the PC only for gaming and movies, not for anything else.

and why not ECS, is it a really that bad a brand. H67 at 4.1K is very enticing

EDIT: Found this mobo from MSI H67MA-E35 : 290. Looks like a better option :)

Told you. For ~Rs.150 more you get a mobo with all solid caps :)

SB has plenty of power in it and you dont need to OC for a HD6850 or even a HD6950. SB @ 3GHz has plenty of power!

What is the price of 2400/2500? IMO for a such a new rig and budget Quad is a must. The difference in price between i3 2100 and i5 2400 is ~3.5k in India. So it should be ~2.5k-3k in Malaysia (Pricing in INR)

i3 2100 dual core and a beastly HD6950!

@Spectre are u Bat $hizz Insane? going for a config like that? U know u are a gamer and always will be.

Go for something better.

What about this setup, though I am really trying to convince myself if I really need it

HIS 6950 2GB DDR5 : 800

Seasonic 620 M12II :365

Cooler Master Elite 371 : 135

Total: 2865 ~ 42 K

1. 'K' series and H67 doesn't make sense at all. It should be 'K' series with P67 or non-K with H67/H61.

2. Though the Gigabyte H67MA-UD2H is a mATX board. It packs great feature with it. You can also grab Asus P8H67 M EVO @ 9k. The Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard is a great board comes with bluetooth, 8 SATA ports (4 x 3Gbps + 4 x 6Gbps) USB3 and SLI + CFX support. Or you can grab your MSI H67MA-E35 motherboard too.. Whats your total budget BTW?

3. Grab the XMS3 Kit. Run it on dual channel..Better than single module.

4. Grab AMD Radeon 6950 2GB(805RM=12K) as it can be unlocked to a 6970 itself (you will need to get the AMD reference edition though).

5. NZXT Gamma > Cooler Master Elite 371.

@Spectre - No point in going for K series and H67. Go for non-K 2400/2500 and save some bucks! (Unless you will upgrade to P67/Z68 in the future)
