NVIDIA to Release Three New Graphics Cards

NVIDIA is set to release three new products in the coming weeks to do battle with ATI during the holiday season. This time around NVIDIA is launching new mid-range and entry level offerings to take on ATI’s recently launched Radeon X1300XT, X1650 Pro, X1900XT 256MB, X1950XTX and X1950 CrossFire. NVIDIA’s new offerings arrive in the form of the GeForce 7100GS, 7900GS and 7950GT.

At the entry level side of things NVIDIA is replacing its GeForce 6200TC with a new GeForce 7100GS. The G72 based 7100GS retains Turbo Cache support like the GeForce 6200TC it replaces. There will be 128MB of onboard memory which translates into 512MB effective memory with NVIDIA’s Turbo Cache technology. The GeForce 7100GS is also backed by a 64-bit memory interface with compatibility with DDR2 memory. Four pixel shader units are available on the GeForce 7100GS. Core clock of the GeForce 7100GS is set at a rather conservative 350 MHz. NVIDIA SLI and PureVideo technologies are supported by the GeForce 7100GS, though it lacks the SLI bridge connector.

Moving up is the retail NVIDIA GeForce 7900GS. Previously the GeForce 7900GS was only available as an OEM offering from system manufacturers such as Dell. Woot also had OEM versions of the MSI GeForce 7900GS for sale at $139 a pop a couple days ago as well. Specifications for the retail GeForce 7900GS are identical to the OEM versions. A 450 MHz core clock is joined by a 1.32 GHz memory clock. It’s also equipped with 20 pixel shader units and 256MB of graphics memory. Support for HDCP is dependant on individual graphics card manufacturers.

Dell has been selling the 7900GS in its XPS systems for some time, but you cannot buy the cards individually.

At the upper spectrum of NVIDIA’s mid-range lineup is the GeForce 7950GT. Sporting a 550 MHz core clock and 1.4 GHz memory clock the GeForce 7950GT is a successor to the previous GeForce 7900GT. Memory size has increased to 512MB with the GeForce 7950GT., The GeForce 7950GT will also have 24 pixel shader units like the previous GeForce 7900GT. HDCP compliance and dual dual-link DVI outputs are standard on all GeForce 7950GT cards as well.

SLI technology is supported on the GeForce 7900GS and 7950GT. Availability of GeForce 7100GS, 7900GS and 7950GT cards are expected in the first half of September for for less than $100, $199 and $299 respectively.

^^Probably, but we'll just have to wait and see. The 7600 GS should go below 100$ and the GT around 140$ i guess. the 7900 GT should also see a price drop to below 250$.

I think nVidia will discontinue the 7900GT soon after the 7950GT comes in.

Well.. I just dont look at nVidia cards in this Gen. anymore. HDR + AA rocks :P.

Nvidia GeForce 7100 GS slips out

Nvidia has quietly rolled out the GeForce 7100 graphics chip family at the bottom end of its GeForce 7 series of GPUs. For now, though, there's only one member - the 7100 GS - but at least three card companies have announced boards based on the part.

The 7100 GS contains four pixel shaders like the GeForce 7300 LE. Both chips connect to DDR 2 video memory across a 64-bit, single-channel bus and clocked to 600MHz. However, while the 7300 LE's core runs at 450MHz, the 7100 GS is clocked to 350MHz.

That yields a fill rate of just 1.4bn pixels per second. The chip can process 263m vertices each second.

Among the companies who've already announced 7100 GS-based boards are PixelView, which is shipping a card with 128MB of memory expandable to 512MB using system RAM accessed by the chip's TurboCache technology. Sparkle announced a similar product, as did Inno3D.

AN ISRAELI distributor decided to launch a 7950 GT card before Nvidia lifted its embargo. It priced the BFG Geforce 7950 GT OC 512MB PCIe at $505 or 2,000.00 Israeli New Shekels. The BFG card is clocked at 565MHz core and 1430MHz memory.

The default non overclocked 7950 GT should be clocked at 550 MHz core and 1400 MHz memory. Not the greatest overclock that we seen.

The card has dual Dual-Link DVI-I slots can perform 1170 Million vertices/sec and a memory bandwidth of 45.7 GB/s. the official launch is expected in the middle of the month but if you are in Israel you can preorder one now.

The link is here and try to get there before Nvidia takes it off. To make it more intereesting we did a screen shot for you.

Nvidia launches GeForce 7950 GT and 7900 GS chips

Nvidia has launched two new versions of its mighty GeForce 7900 graphics chip with the GeForce 7900 GS going on sale immediately and the GeForce 7950 GT hitting the shops on 14 September.

The two new chips fill a gaping chasm in the Nvidia product range between the GeForce 7600 GT at £100-£150 and the GeForce 7900 GTX at £265-£320 with just the GeForce 7900 GT bridging the middle at £190-£280.

As of today, the GeForce 7900 GT is no more. It has ceased to be, and instead is replaced by the GeForce 7950 GT which has a core speed of 550MHz core and 512MB of DDR3 memory with a true speed of 700MHz (1400MHz effective). The 7950 GT has a 256-bit controller to give a 44.8GB/second memory bandwidth.

Internally the 7950 GT has 24 pixel pipelines and 8 vertex shaders which means that it is effectively a GeForce 7900 GTX with a ten per cent underclock.

The 7900 GTX currently sells for £265-£320 so we expect that the 7950 GT will be very popular at its projected price of £199.

Then we have the GeForce 7900 GS which has a 450MHz core, 256MB DDR3 running at 660MHz memory (1320MHz effective) a 256-bit controller and 42.2GB/second memory bandwidth. It has 20 pixel pipelines and 7 vertex shaders and is effectively a 7900 GT with fewer shaders but significantly cheaper.

As you can see from the photos, the reference 7950 GT and 7900 GS look damn near identical. Both sport an SLI connector and support HDCP, providing the add-in board partner enables the feature.

Nvidis’a new product stack now looks like this: GeForce 7950 GX2 £350-£400 GeForce 7900 GTX £265-£320 GeForce 7950 GT expected at £199 GeForce 7900 GS expected at £149 GeForce 7600 GT £100-£150 GeForce 7600 GS £70-£100 GeForce 7300 under £50

Just told my cousins in US to get me XFX 7900GS from newegg when they come to India:clap:
Its avai;able for $199

7900GS for $199 is damn nice considering that it has almost similar specs as the 7900GT.

Does anyone know if the 7900GS is available yet in India? I think XFX/Rashi is usually pretty quick to bring out new SKUs into the Indian market. Information along with pricing would be very much appreciated...

Cheers!
