If its a DL rig then why get 500GB for ~3.3k? Instead spend a bit more and get the 1TB for ~4.2k. 100% more storage @ ~27% more price.
Rest stick to Jakob's suggestion. If you need a DVD R/W it will add another ~Rs.900 or so to the costs. If you are on a tight budget then skimp on the cabby and opt for the CM Elite 310.
Alternately if you want a USB 3.0 on the front panel opt for the Cooler Master Elite 344 USB 3.0 ~ 2.15k. It has one USB 3.0 port on the front panel to which you can connect the internal USB 3.0 header from the Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H.
The config will cost couple of thousands more than the budget but its worth it if you are able to stretch your budget a bit.
 
^I don't think OP intends to use USB 3.0 much hence i didn't take front USB 3.0 Case matter much seriously,Yes if he's intending to use the USB 3.0 then Nzxt Source 210 Elite-2.5k is also an option,I haven't seen 1TB HDD @4.2k,It's still @4.6k or so but getting better storage will help,It's OP's choice.

Here at Indore, 1 TB Seagate is priced at 4300/- ... so maybe it should be the same elsewhere too.

Saw mentioned in other thread, that 1 TB will be slower than 500 GB. Is that so, and why? How much of a difference will be there.. anything noticeable?
 
If prices are coming down then it's good news,I don't remember saying 1TB is slower than 500GB,Maybe it was comparison between 2TB and 500GB.There is no difference between 1TB and 500GB HDD.Hope this clears stuff.

Jakob : i forgot to mention but i need speakers too(something cheap,should have clear and audible audio)i will also need a UPS


and are ext. hardisks cheaper or internal ones?
i have also heard that ivy bridge proccy's have a problem with the stock fan/thermal paste leading to proccy's over heating even on normal use
i will be buying this rig in april-march next year after my 10th results are announced
 
For speakers Altec Lancing BXR1221-1.3k would be a good choice,Internal HDD's are cheaper than external.The Ivy bridge processor does heat u pa bit but since you're not ocing you'll be good with default HSF.If you're going to buy components in March then you'd have to update the thread again at that time cause things change in few months.

Going for an AMD based rig makes sense at your budget and requirement. Also, AMD cpu's have more room for overclocking, if you want to.
 
any idea how much i would i get if i sell my old config to the place where i will be buying these components?
