Canon iP1000 for 2.5K or Canon iP1500 are the best in your budget.

The Canon iP1500, anyday for that budget, giving excellent performance in my dad's office...

ok I have ordered it . I hope its good enough for b/w printing ?? Anish , please confirm as I can cancel it before tomorrow morning . I will be using Amkette cartridges after the initial ones .

I checked the printer out it seems to be photo bubble-jet ? I think this is different from inkjet cartridges technology ..

Not sure about the IP1500 but I bought a IP1000 somewhere around May this year for Rs 2400/-. Great printer both for b&w and colour. Canon is also among the most economical in terms of running cost. In fact I use it with 3rd party cartridges like amkette which cost me about Rs 100 and Rs 150 for black and colour. Really good results.

Only down side is that it was probably the worst looking (IMO) of the printers in that class which I compared. I didn't mind because it was not meant to win the Miss India pageant.

I also use it to print photographs on photo paper. I can recommend it without reservation.

Hi I got the Canon Ip1000 printer today . great printer! like what others say . thanks for the recommendation , Udit and Emil .

Good luck with your printer. As I said, you can save a lot on cartridges by buying from 3rd party brands. I have been buying online from Amkette but there are also other brands like Epoch I think..

my dealer has told me to use original genuine cartridges like any other dealer would lol :)

Use Amkette or Fullmark cartriges they are better than originals.
