The vulnerability being discussed and analyzed this week is CVE-2019-14615. This CVE still hasn't been made public over 24 hours later (though there are the Intel SA-00314 details for this disclosure), but from going through kernel patches and other resources, it certainly caught our interest right away and have been benchmarking it since yesterday evening. The CVE-2019-14615 vulnerability amounts to a new information disclosure issue due to insufficient control flow in certain data structures. Local access is required for exploiting this control flow issue in the hardware, but it's not yet known/published if say WebGL within web browsers could exploit this issue. This is a hardware issue with all operating systems being affected.

Another Intel vulnerability. Nothing new but least its not on the CPU end. But the perf drop on the already anaemic Intel graphics is drastic.

I am not sure if this affects day to day usability for normal usage i.e. no heavy 3D loads because Intel iGPU is not anways capable in that regard.

Now that AMD is gaining more marketshare I am guessing sooner than later we will also see people poking at Zen to find out their loopholes as well.
 
Oh crap. Does it affect my 4 year old HP Envy 13 laptop which has an intel core i5-6200U skylake cpu with integrated graphics?

I'm just waiting for new laptops this year with AMD Ryzen 4800U 15w apu so I can make the switch :D

I have the same CPU or maybe a 6300U in my XPS but I checked and saw that its HD 520 iGPU is a Gen 9 Skylake part(not the CPU which is 6th Gen obviously) but the impact seems minimal.

Although in my case it doesn't matter as the only iGPU usage is in video consumption/web browsing.
