^^ Yeay thanks but what about other flash enabled websites? I wont be able to watch other flash based videos and stuff?

the calling is the prime feature one would want skype..otherwise gtalk is there :P

as said by quad master, android phones come with youtube app for youtube.

The youtube thing reminds me of poor network connectivity of Galaxy 3.

i have used both Galaxy 3, Spica and ZTE Blade in different areas simultaneously with same network provider and Galaxy 3 seemed to have rather poorer connectivity than the other two.

Youtube videos almost never load and give connection errors over EDGE/GPRS. Connection settings are correct. Although they work fine over wifi.

In case if you are anticipating to buy Galaxy 3 anyways then please hold on until Froyo is released officially for it.

Samsung has release froyo for it on its firmware site but i dont know why not via Kies though.

can't fiddle with galaxy 3 usng custom roms as the owner is super paranoid. (although she feels lucky and confident about investing in pyramid schemes..no, i mean, seriously!!)
 
dang, it doesn't have 3D graphics. So it wont be able to play Asphalt 5 and all those games ryt??? I hate the screen resolution of these Android Phones(except 800x480)

update:

skype is now working fine over Galaxy 3 with latest skype update.

still on stock 2.1 rom.

I am thinking of buying a Samsung Galaxy 551 which has Froyo and with Skype now working as confirmed above it looks descent.

Youtube i won't access it on gprs or edge , only on wifi.

Hope GPS works perfectly over gprs or edge.

I don't need gaming on the phone as of now.

This is a temp buy till April June.

reliance digital and major croma outlets keep new fones on display soon after launch nowadays.

check one before you buy one.

im sure you will tend toward purchasing moto quench xt3 instead of this one after looking at both the displays. it's not fun below 320x480 but that may just be me.

if physical keyboard is not important then do consider between xt3 and optimus one 500.

build quality is good for xt3 and looks above average. otherwise optimus one 500 is the logical winner here.

just try before you buy.

moto quench xt3 - does it have éclair or froyo , also does it have its own customized UI or stock android.

comes with custom MotoBlur UI

has Qualcomm MSM7227 600 MHz Processor (600MHz cpu +GPU for hardware acceleration)

last i checked, it was on eclairs 2.1

no idea if it will ever get froyo.

I agree Spica has better specs, but the slider keyboard and the froyo are big plus points for me. I don't fiddle much with the phone's roms etc, so don't want custom roms/ mods etc. Apart from that, I don't have the money to buy a high end phone; max budget is ~12k :)

Since this is similar to Galaxy 3 , can any Galxy 3 user confirm if the text look clear and crisp or pixelisation is there.

Also does the LG Optimus have this pixelisation issue.

pixelisation is definitely there. Try to scroll through menu and you would be put off.

do consider trying galaxy 3 as it is available at almost tech malls.

True, the last phone which was a extremely good buy in this range was the Spica. The optimus one is almost there. Just missing a few small things, LED flash, secondary camera being the major ones.

The spice mi-300 actually does all that the optimus one does and has the LED flash too, for much less(10k). And it has froyo too courtesy of Cyanogen Mod.
 
Even Spica has its issues. Hardware is present but samsung were so eager to bring it out that they never were proper drivers for it. Issues with audio, 3d drivers. No FM drivers. Good that some developers took interest.

Samsung i5801 and i 5510 both have the s5p series cpu by samsung. It is a very mid range to low range cpu and the gpu sucks frankly compared tp phones based on qualcomm processor. Dont go by the higher clock rating of the cpu...

BTW galaxy 3 with froyo is quite fast and stable, just dont try to play 3d games on it...

But Optimus one is the new king of the segment. Quench will not be getting froyo.

And while spica used to be a good phone, It is just not fair to compare it with Optimus P500. Lg device has better screen (even though resolution is same), has 3d drivers from manufacturer, and lots , lots extraas like jit enabled..

But yeah, unless you are ready to mod your android you wont get much out of it.
