If I use HDMI, will I be able to use coaxial output to amplifier for 5.1 channel output ?

As I have heard that the HDMI connection sends the audio and video signal both in one cable without using any digital-to-analog converter. So, how could I use coaxial output to amplifier ?

whatever, but anirudh's knowledge has upscaled MUCH from where he started! :P

IMHO,thanks 2 TE,what say,anirudh?

@chaos,you mean we can upscale dvds in component output also ?

Component cables have enough bandwidth for 1080i. I don't think any dvd player in a sane price does more than that... unless you have an HTPC.

@Techie#1, TE rocks

@Chaos, What will be better High Defination DVD Player or HTPC ? btw, I got a 2 year old pc connected to the Plasma TV.

If ur using a VGA/DVI out from the PC to a Plasma/LCD HDTV, ur already using the best OUT way. HDMI just has the sound incorporated in it as well so no need to use a Toslink/Co-ax s/pdif...

Component cable as chaos mentioned, has a lot of potential basically, especially considering higher length installations. DVI/HDMI are digital but don't freak on them absolutely. They can not be operated over longer length which is a typical case in PC's connected with Home-theatre. Just make sure u use a 75ohm cable for the component with all three RGB channels Shielded individually..

If you have a pc sitting with u, you'll get the best quality if you just get a 6200TC/X1300 video card and the latest windvd/powerdvd/nvidia dvd software. Get a DVI-HDMI converter and just connect the tv using it. Hell even component out will do as well. A cheap graphic card beats a 2000$ marantz dvdp in most benches by a mile heh. So forget entry level players :P.
