I am wondering if i can use the HDD from my laptop. Its an 80GB Fujitsu SATA.

A little off topic.
Do you think it makes sense to have 2 rigs. 1 for downloading/NAS and another as the main rig? Or should I build a single rig with all the bells and whistles?
 
^^ IMO it doesn't makes any sense.

see my siggy it's the rig i use for Downloading 24x7 as well as gaming.

all you've got to do is buy something intelligent like the M/B that i've got.

it can undervolt & overvolt your processor at real time so at night my PC Consumes 150 watts coz i undervolt my processor to 1.25v & in the day it runs at 1.33v consuming 300watts of power at idle.
 
if you are planning for a linux rig...I always recommend Intel platform. ATI catalyst hav all sort of problem with linux distros.
