CPU/Mobo New MB shows damage - what are my options?

Hi Guys,

This MB was delivered last week. I opened it yesterday to do the BIOS update and saw this damage. Otherwise the board looks fine. Suggestions?

Bought it from Computechstore.in and they hardly reply to messages etc. Packaging and box was not damaged. Should I raise a complaint? Who with? If it works should I just keep it?

Raised a complaint on the Gigabyte website.

I think you should try to get it replaced by seller, and quickly before their return window closes.
CID - Customer Induced damage. Any physical damage gives these companies a way out, even if its not causing an issue.

1) someone have tried to put the shield back in using a screwdriver,
Something similar had happened with mine, except I didn't have confirmation on whether shield is supposed to fit in with sink shroud or not.
So I left the shield as it is,
thinking what happened in the images could have happened with my Mobo.

2) have u made an uncut unboxing video?

3) they have two what's app numbers
One belongs to higher up and other is usual for customer care.

Edit* I had gotten my Mobo from amazon

Does the seller replace things or leaves it to the company?

If you get DOA or damaged item, seller has to replace it, so Computechstore.
Usually they have a few days limit after which they wont. Usually 3-7 days. Check their terms. They might also need unboxing video as proof.

This is the only item that I didn't take an unboxing video of. Shit luck.

Have messaged them saying all my other items are still sealed so some proof that I have not started the build.

Was waiting for ssd which got delivered just now.

What all components you have ordered?
Can you post here?
Did they charge for shipping separately?
All prices shown in their site is inclusive of shipping charges they said. So asking.
BTW where are you located actually?

Try to see if they will allow return.
Worst case - motherboard is still functional right ? Take it as a lesson, atleast its working and enjoy your new build.
Hopefully, you will never need to rma.

You know what they say, updating BIOS is a risky business.
Jokes aside, you are outta luck since you didn't record unboxing video. You can make a fuss on twitter or reddit when both vendor and shop owner declines the exchange in the hope someone high from their side takes notice but that's about it.

If that IO shield back plate can be taken out then you can try to straighten it but only do so when you are out of other options.

Got the following

9800x3d
64GB RAM
MSI 850 PSU
Aorus Stealth Ice MB
Crucial 2TB NVME
Antec c5 case

They charged extra for shipping as well as credit card, so might as well have gone with someone else who was marginally more.

They also gave me hell with a cpu return, but I'll detail that in another post. Can you comment on below please?

I built my PC yesterday with the 9800x3d, and it worked fine all night till I slept, which was about 4 hours. This morning I started adding software and just after I installed the Gigabyte Control Center I got the BSODs. Multiple times and could not boot into Windows at all.
Anyone faced this? Searched online and found a few similar complaints.

Repair of Windows didn't work, so formatted and reloaded Windows. Been on the PC for about 12 hours running benchmarks, stress testing etc and no blue screen. Ran Cinebench multiple times with under volting etc, ran Aida64 for over an hour.

Do you think I can safely assume it was the Gigabyte software?

What was the BSOD reason showing as?

It's possible the conflict was caused by the software, as long as it's all good now

You formatted it so we will never know unless you do it again. You could have booted into windows using safe mode which disables all startup programs. Had that worked it definitely would have narrowed down the booting issue to one of the startup programs.
