Scenario: He PMed you the discount coupon for let's say 15% you being a old and reputated member and for new members it's 5%. But you pass me that coupon. So even I get 15% off then ;)

Of course I am talking when there is only one coupond for 15% off as keeping different coupon for every user is a tedious task. It will add to his work!

I don think you can divide the thread in ethics and profits so easily. How would you differentiate between two new persons posting in market section to buy/sell one of whom joined TE just for market section benefits and the other joined for knowledge but just happened to buy/sell?!!

I don't think the line can be drawn so easily. In the end someone has to lose/sacrifice more than the other.

Amarbir you can always mention the number of posts required to order from you, and stick to that...
But that way, wat abt people buying 7 head phones for their friends and all? They arent even members..lol

The one thing that intrigues me about Amarbir is the way he types.. Almost every word starts with a capital.. Do You Know How Tough This Is?? :P

Anyway, on topic.. I think it should be left to the dealer's discretion as to whom he should allow for transaction and he whom he may not.. of course, he may not impose unreasonable clauses.. A post count level or date of membership may be some simple criteria..

just my 100 cents.. why 2 always?
 
I disagree with any loss to forums by new members joining for market section only and loss to regular members by limiting trades because we are here for tech discussions not for trades.
 
^if u look at my posts properly without any biased view u can see that i did contribute. :)...

i wrote that u too are here as many of those with intention of using the market section to reap its benefits. Anyway as others suggested u can be selective in whom you sell to.:)

Amarbir- what's the deal dude? As it is rules and "guidelines" is good enough to be published as a booklet? People complaining about market section needlessly seem to be infected with paranoia. Mods- please close this thread.

This is getting pretty lame. One should bring down feedback section or changed to rants/raves section if such epic threads are going to be opened and reduce the rules and regulations so that people (especially newbies) will be able to understand for basic understanding- if people can't use common sense, mods can take the necessary action. A user can simply share their grievances/suggestions via PM to mod/admin. If mods/admins see fit, depending on the suggestion they can make a thread in their secret mod/admin section and if everyone agrees, they can implement it. We could have a debate in this- but there's simply no point as in the feedback section- there is no end of a debate. One will agree- and one will not.

And also mods need to do something Amarbir's "entertaining" way of putting up caps on every damned first letter on every damned words. Its strange for a guy who speaks about ethics not following logic.

Rahulmig I Have Several People who Are Regular In My Website And Now they Registered With Same Id Here And Thier Contribution Is Zero ,Why Should I Not Sell A Product To My Old forum Members At a Good Price ,I Will Implement this rule In My Trades Soon Whereever I Deem Necessary .

All I can say is those people who join for the sake of trades will keep on visiting the forum for more attractive deals which in turn will make the forum more active.

After all the forum's main aim is activity.

Its a valid point...but then some questions;
IF you give seniority to members...what will be the basis? Age on TE, Number of Posts or use of different sections.
There are senior members in age who have few number of posts and newbies who are really into TE and have numerous posts...then there is question of how many ppl come on TE just for trade/offers and how many use the full potential of the site

I chanced upon TE due to trade.....but slowly...i found that this is a community to discuss, test, ask for advice, provide reviews and feedback and lot more...and have been using them....its a place where lovers of tecnology, cars and music get together to interact..and also trade

There might be members who come here for the deals but i am sure...one who hunts for deals has to know his stuff coz its the best priced/best config/best deal that are there on TE...anything thats crap will be fired here...so this person will be developing interest in the other sections in due course..

You are a regd. seller here and can urself dicriminate by having different prices for different Segments of members....although I think this concept is adverse to popularity of TE.

Just my 2 cents...cheers
 
Agree with Nimit, I dont post that much but i do spend a lot of time reading through the forums, no need post unnecessarily when I know I am in no way as knowledgeable as some the members here on TE

i visited this website first because kmd was a name that popped up in my google search for " dremel tools in india".

The next thing that caught my eye was the market section. but gradually i became a member of this tech fraternity where everyone helps each other. even i don't write many posts because most of the time the query has already been answered and i don't have any thing knowledgable to add.

I never spammed even though it required 35 posts to use the member's market. i could have written +1 in every thread and i could have gotten to that 35 posts in a jiffy. members like shripad traded with me even though i had no itrader ratings.

So all in all you do have good intentions in your heart, but this will also make TE lose it's attraction to newcomers
