I got a new SAMSUNG Netbook N110 2 days back. Now i am experiencing a problem with the startup. The startup is very slow. When you enter the password at the login window and after accepting the password the login window (blue screen with welcome written) still stays for more than 20 secs after the login sound is played. Then the desktop wallpaper is displayed and the wallpaper is displayed for more than 45 secs but still the desktop screen is not loaded as in the start bar and desktop icons . Please help me out with the startup problem'
The applications that are loaded at startu are :-
1)avgnt (avira antivirus)
2)Battery Manager (Samsung Battery Manager)
3)ALCMTR
4)RTHDCPL

Is it XP? Go into Msconfig, and check if there are any other hidden startup items or services.
Defrag your OS partition.
Use a software called bootvis to rearrange and speedup your boot sector.

Checked msconfig. Nothing over there. Will try defragment now and also give bootvis a try . And yea its xp. Will let you know the progress.

:S i don't understand how would defraging a 2 day old laptop help :S unless in these 2 days u've installed and uninstalled too many apps on it and completely loaded it up.
