Insanely Awesome!!

NVIDIA is the first to pull a Vista RC2 compatible driver out of the bag. We already warned you about this here and Nvidia kept its promise this time.
It is indeed a WHQL driver and we will try to test it as soon as possible to see is there any performance differences between this and the previous driver. We hope the new control panel is good, as the old one sucked big time. Here in the lab we were laughing how complicated was to find the easiest feature in Nvidia Control panel. Hopefully, the new one will make things better.

The driver works will all Vistas from build 5744 up and should not be used with older Vista versions. The driver includes Open GL driver for compatibility testing and improves application compatibility and performance.

i dont under stand why do we need a driver for vista , when is has all the driver.
i installed vista rc2 build 5600 a few days ago and i only installed audio driver for ac 850. thats it . It even installed n force 4 ultra drive by its self.

Also the stock drivers you get with vista are not optimized to get the best performance out of the graphic card and don't feature the contol panel , which is used to tweak your 3d/game settings and a lot more.

oh ok i never thought of that, when i go to nvidia webpage for drivers downloads

they give only vista 86 and 64 , they wont mention build 5600 or 5744.

why like that.

The new driver leaves us puzzled. Doom 3, 3Dmark03 and Fear and certainly Serious Sam 2 benefits a lot from the new driver. But 3Dmark06 scores slightly slower and Quake 4 performs catastrophically slower. 3Dmark06 also has some rendering glitches on some tests. It is a step forward in four from six games and applications that we tested but it will have to be better than that.

There is not much time to get things right as the RTM version is expected any day now, it is scheduled for November and we are just ten days away from teh beginning of that month. We will keep our eyes for any change with drivers and performance. We want to know as well.

Nvidia RC2 driver speeds here, slows there
