Codenamed "Lennon" and "Nitro," PalmOne has new models en route

Engadget reports Cingular has scored a pair of exclusive new PalmOne Treo PDA phones. The upcoming PalmOne Treos are only known by codenames—Lennon and Nitro. These PalmOne Treos sport a new design and form factor that’s antenna-free; making that pocket antenna bulge of current and previous PalmOne Treos a thing of the past.

Lennon will be Windows Mobile 2005 based and offer support for UMTS and Class 10 EDGE. A 1.3 mega pixel camera is also integrated like previous Treos. PalmOne’s previous Windows Mobile 5.0 based Treo 700w was exclusive to Verizon customers, leaving Cingular and T-Mobile customers with the older Treo 600 and 650 models. Nitro is expected to run Palm OS and have a 1.3 mega pixel camera. Not much information is available on the PalmOne Nitro yet, though it wouldn’t be too surprising if it were an evolution of the Sprint PalmOne Treo 700p made for GSM networks.

Availability of the upcoming PalmOne Lennon and Nitro is expected in October, in time for the holiday shopping season. Pricing of the PalmOne Lennon and Nitro isn’t available yet but expect it to cost around $500, which seems to be the asking price for most newly released PalmOne Treo devices. As always, Kristopher continues his quest on finding the perfect
