mine is etherenet Broadband.. for downloads
how abt this config?
the pc has to be kept powered on 24x7 what abt power consumption with higher mobo & proccy?
plz advice

Hi,

Since you are going to use it round the clock...
Go for a better PSU...
Coolmaster 500W would be the best

Well heres my peace of suggestion

E4500 2.2Ghz 800Mhz - Rs.4800 or E2140 - Rs.2900

Abit Ip35-e Rs.5500

Zebronics Bijli - Rs.1300 (w/o SMPS) (I wont recommend this as it catches finger marks easily)

Zebronics Platinum PSU 500W Rs.1800-1900(SOLID!! -- Have a really good exp. with it)

Transcend 800Mhz 2x1gb RAM -- Rs.2150

Total ~ Rs.16000 / Rs.14000

Get the ABIT IP35-E is a must coz in future i am sure you will go for games. (Everyone does :P).. So then you can suck the power out of the E4500/E2140 by adding a 2.3k worth of ultima90 heatsink. It would go to 3ghz like butter.

Get a 800mhz ram, better than corsair 667mhz.(corsair costly coz it is good to overclock and has long warranty period-- But u wont be ocing so i cheap ram with 5-5-5-15 timings would be good -- that is transcend/ kingston)

anything else.. just ask ..

About the cabby PSU .. I would say get a better cabby a CM 690- 4.2k or Elite 333 - 1.8k (better than any zebby cabinet)..

The PSU is rock solid.. 22A on the 12 rail.. though its not dual rail but works like a charm with me eVGA 8600GT oced..

i dont experience bad ethernet performance on my biostar p35 board

it runs 24/7 with college LAN and is always put to use gaming and for ahemm file transfers :D

^^most reviews on the net use the boards when they are BRAND NEW and dont have mature BIOS

once the bios difficulties are solved, they get better but the reviews dont show that.

i have the p35 + e2140

you should not skimp on a psu as the noname ones get spoilt really fast and can fry everything....

my 400bux psu which was free with the case fried my old mobo, graphics card and 1gb ddr-400 ram :(

my new noname 500watt psu has a rattling fan in 1month 24/7 usage so i am planning my next psu

1)watever u mentioned is just fine (any asus mobo at stock will be rock stable)

2)since you dont look at overclocking as a consideration, go for a higher clocked cpu like the e4500 for around 2k more(you will feel the difference between 1.6 and 2.2ghz trust me :D )

3)get a decent power supply like the pov black diamond 500w or the

cooler-master extreme-power 500w which both cost 2900bux

so get the cabinet without the psu and total comes to around 16.5k

^^ What do u say about the zebby pltinum 500w PSU?? Any problems you/others had with it.. Did it fry or rattle :D.. Keep me posted.

Thanks

i had a zebby 400W which died just after 1 year, a platinum 500W i bought to replace it was DOA . i havent bought Zebby PSU's since....

_pappu_ , give your PSU for servicing, say the fan is rattling. they will relubricate your fan, and it will be up and running. mine has been running for ~2 years since the servicing( 5 years total) it cost me just 120 bucks

The config you've created seems to be ideal for moderate gaming , and downloads. its perfect as it is :) . note that the iball baby is a great cabby ( i have one for HTPC use) , but bear in mind the following points

it has just one HDD bay. there is a similar size FDD bay, but i havent tried fitting in an HDD in it. so you cant add hard disks to it

the baby comes with a small custom 400W PSU. I dont think you can use regular PSU's with it. Check my rig gallery for my system :)

if you are not planning to OC, AMD is a much better proposition. and since you're not gaming , the 8600GT is overkill, unless you want some specific feature of it(say the enhanced purevideo features, which are available in the 8500GT as well) also, since its not for gaming, try to get a passively cooled one- it will be more silent. i would SERIOUSLY recommend that you think about an amd processor + nvidia 6100 /6150/ 7050 chipset motherboard. linux runs beautifully on these boards, hardware acelleration for beryl/compiz etc, and purevideo , all at a much lower price point , and if you feel that performance is not upto scratch, you can always upgrade later

thank you all for ur advice...
I bought everythin today...
C2D E4500 & Intel DG33 FB mobo , yah as u know i wont be OCing so it makes sense buying Intel mobo.
& also no other good mobo was available & they had to order & get it from mumbai min 3ds !!!
for linux users .. stick to intel as intel has made all its drivers opensource !!!
this gr8 guide from ANAND tech helped me make the decision
worth reading it , plz go to this link...

AnandTech: Midrange CPU Roundup: It's Time to Buy

dont forget to read the comparison between intel mobos, even 945 chipset is also equally comparable with P35s, anyways I had few more advanages with this board..(Hackintosh??)
rest I followed ur advice for RAM & Cabby & PSU, Zeb Bijli + CM 550w
needles to say it rocks
I bought samsung 932nw lcd 19'' monitor, its simply superb.. colour reproduction is excellent, yeah watching all the movies again.. if you are planning to buy a 19'' dont look anything else..
bought Samsung 20x SATA DVDRW sony & liteon lot of duplicates !!
Thanks a lot guys keep helping people like us..
gr8 forum!! 3cheers..
