Friends, Indian, Techmen. Lend me u'r ears..............

Its time again when a fellow Techman needs u'r help:ohyeah:

My cousin sis wants to buy a new rig and me being the only genius in the family :| needs to help her. I will be going to Nehru Place on Tuesday.
Budget is as mentioned in the title 15K for Rig and 10K for LCD.

She does not needs DVD Rom, Speakers, keyboard, mice and UPS
Being a girl she is not much into gaming but intend to use the machine for Entertainment/ Coding / Net Browsing/ Watching Movies/ Listening songs / very casual gaming (may be once in a month)

Being a AMD enthusiast I am I have the following Rig in mind

Mobo: Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H / Asus M3A78-EM : 4.5K/5.5K
Procy: Athlon 5200+ / Phenom 8450 : 3.0K/4.8K
Hardisk Seagate 250/500 : 2.2K/3.2K
Ram: Transcend 2 GB 800Mhz single stick 1.3K
Some generic cabi with PSU : 1.2K (I think enough for the Rig)

Total Higher / Lower : 11.5 / 16 INR

On the Intel Side I intend to check the following Rig

Mobo - Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L 2.5k
CPU - Intel E7300 5.8k
Hardisk Seagate 500 : 3.2K
Ram: Transcend 2 GB 800Mhz single stick 1.3K
Some generic cabi with PSU : 1.2K (I think enough for the Rig)

Total 14K

Considering the usage and some future proofing what will u guys suggest Or can some changes be made in the current Rig

That brings us to my next Query

10 K for LCD. I think there are already numerous thrreads for this but what I want to ask is

Is Viewsonic 2225 gud enough as that is the only 22 incher available for 10K or
Some descent 19 incher for 8.5 - 9K

As I will be going to buy the Rig on tuesday please let me know u'r thoughts by then.

Thanks in advance.

Just a suggestion, get her a DVD writer or at least a DVD rom. when she wants to watch a dvd and wouldn't she will curse you, not to mention times when she might need to transfer some data.

ps. why not get a slightly less powerful cpu if she is not into gaming etc.

She does not needs DVD Rom, Speakers, keyboard, mice and UPS as she already has that. And I feel looking at the budget CPU's choices are just about best VFM.

instead of the Mobo - Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L 2.5k

Get a Biostart GF7050....ur sis will have some onboard graphics....:)

and Go for the 22' viewsonic....Bcoz a girl cant make out the diffrence b/w an average 22" and a Good 19' :P

Never thought in that direction.........
So how many people agree with this. (May be I need to start another Poll)

And which one is more stable among the two
Biostart GF7050 or Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L
and may be I will overclock the procy a bit for her...........

Depends how old or comp-enthusiastic ur cousin's sis is...

also do get her a mobo wid decent onboard graphics minimum as u need smthing to even run vista at the given resolution of ur monitor..

and btw isnt ur cousins sis ur cousin too?

where are the intel fan's :(....they dont exist any more (i thiink so )

Btw Gigabyte Makes the most stable motherboards but if u get a Biostar u ll have good onboard GFX...atleast good for ur sis :|

and

The Bigger the better :D

go For 22' if u r nt gameing on it

If you go with the higher AMD rig you'll definitely be getting much better performance at stock clocks than any of the other config.

Hey Guys, Everyone should poll for a better tomorrow:)

Excluding my Vote Intel Rig and AMD Higher Rig stands at 4 each. Now this is confusing..:S
Common Guys some more votes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got a new Rig today for my Cousin

AMD Phenom X3 8450 : 4800
Asus M3A78-EM : 5050
Ram Kingston 2GB X 1 800 Mhx : 1275 - (Bought this)
Ram Transcend 2GB X 1 800 Mhx : 1225
HDD Seagate 500 GB 32 MB Buffer : 2950
Kingston 4GB PenDrive : 340

price of 32MB seagate smells like sv.35 series drive.
check the model number... it must be having SV in the end...(ST3500320SV)
if so... get it replaced with 7200.11 series with AS in the end of model no...(ST3500320AS)

those SV series drive cost cheap n have higher annual failure rate than AS model.
+Very Bad Random Access Time
+Lower Transfer Speed

get it replaced...

congrats if u got AS for that price :hap2:

I dont remember the model number but I surely checked that it was of 7200.11 series. Does all 7200.11 belong to ST3500320AS? If so then I am good.
