Error 628. I think something might be wrong at BSNL's end. as rest of the config looks fine. ask them up if any issue particularly at your BTS.

Hi! I bought new RUIM sim @ Rs. 40 and as they didn't have any evdo modem I arranged prithvi modem of someone who isn't using it any more. Rs. 55 STV for 1 day unlimited went ok and I had the unlimited plan active. I also got balance of Rs. 399. So sim is evdo enabled for sure.

Thing is it connects in cdma 1x only. Whenever I try to connect via EVDO ONLY MODE, towers vanish away during "Notifying Authorization" and later it says "The Connection was terminated by remote computer before it could be completed". When the towers vanish the status windows displays "No Service". This has been the issue since the first day I got sim activated on 3rd of this month. While connecting via dial-up modem it give "Error 628 and Error 678" randomly.

I have contacted BTS Room here and they have mixed reply. Some say its ok while other say yes we are facing some issue. No one has clear judgement that if issue is with BTS, my modem or sim.

Note: I used my friend's connection 20 days back at my place. He was on postpaid 750 ul plan with his prithvi modem. It worked great at that time so I got this connection but now its not connecting in evdo mode.

What do you think guys? You help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

I again repeat EVDO service not activated on your RUIM . Tell them to check whether EVDO component activated on RUIM from BSNL server end .

@kuduku, thanks for the reply. Even I think the same but these guys say that EVDO service is active on your number. There is nothing much they can do.

Also I read on this or other forum that disabling MEID/ESN authorization from bsnl end will solve the issue. But BSNL's reply to that was that such changes were applicable 2 years back when without sim connections were issued. At present it works only via RUIM and there is no need to make any changes related to MEID/ESN of modem or RUIM or even disabling MEID/ESN requirement for my number from their end.

Furthermore, I have attached my number details from bsnl cdma prepaid query. It shows my number under EVDO category. Even I got that Rs. 399 balance which is only received when number is activated under evdo category. I paid Rs. 40 for the sim and didn't purchase modem from them. Rs. 55 STV also got processed. But EVDO not connecting.

I'm from Gujarat. Do you know anyone responsible in bsnl who could work this out for me from their end. Is it possible if you know someone from your city exchange and they can make such required changes on my number. If yes, I can PM you my EVDO number.

No I haven't tried in any other modem because bsnl guys do not have single evdo-ruim modem with them. My friend stays out of town, will be back by end of next week probably with his prithvi modem. Till then is there any other thing you can suggest?

Also there is no requirement to ask them if "EVDO component activated on RUIM from BSNL server end ."
As you say its a EVDO RUIM. Right?

Ok got it solved. It was modem firware issue I guess because bsnl guy updated the firmware on his pc and it started working.

But now another hurdle has come up. In my windows xp evdo connects and works too. But sometime it get hanged and I need to disconnect and reconnect it again when using via software. If used via dial-up issue is much more less and may rarely cause it to hang.

Coming to my laptop with windows 8, it connects via evdo software and dail-up but ipv4 ip address is not generated so detail window of dial-up modem connect shows "No Network Access". When connection dialed directly from Internet connections following detailed are shown IPv4 (Server/Local - 192.168.52.12 as show in screenshot, also Default Gateway on other windows is blank instead it should show some local ip like 192.168.xxx.xxx).

Above ip values are not shown when dialed via software.

So basically I cannot use internet on my windows 8 laptop with prithvi evdo connection. And its totally a laptop local ip config issue. Any help guys?

My speed is around 70 to 105 KB/s no more than that. RSSIis -79dbm. Is it good to achieve up-to 3.1 Mbps? (When I tried my friends connection 20 days back it was giving 170 to 200 KB/s speed)
