I got my galaxy pro today and i have two urgent questions-

1. how to disable gprs connection and make it start manually.
2. how to logout of gmail app from my first primary account.

1. To disable gprs/data connection, go to settings ---> Wireless & Networks ---> Mobile Networks ---> Data Enabled (Uncheck it to disable gprs connection)

2. To do that go to settings ---> Accounts & Sync Settings ---> Click on your account under "Manage accounts" ---> In the next screen you will be given options to remove the account. Keep in mind that sometimes if you have downloaded apps using this account, then you would have problem deleting it since the apps you downloaded will not work.

For your first question, following are your options:

1. Download apndroid widget for your mobile. Put the widget on your mobile desktop. Whenever you need the GPRS connection, turn it on using APNDroid widget.

2. Go to Settings --> Wireless and Network --> Mobile Networks --> Uncheck "Use packet data" when not using GPRS

PS: I personally use the "ZDBOX" widget for this. You can have multiple widgets with one app. Feel that approach is better then having multiple apps.

For the second, go to

Settings --> Accounts and Sync and remove the Gmail account. I do not think there is another easy way of doing this. If some one else knows, please do share.

thanks for the reply guys. remove gmail account option doesn't work for primary account. any other trick besides factory reset?

^^^Unfortunately that cannot be done if OP has downloaded apps from Market using primary account. I am not 100% sure, So I may be wrong on this also. In that case factory reset would be the only viable option to delete the account.

Every android phone requires a primary a/c to integrate the market with. Notice that there is no sign-out option either. The only way I can think of right now is rooting and then using titanium backup to wipe account details. That will work. Else, you have to do the factory reset

If you're worried about losing your contacts, export them to the sd card. If you're worried about sms, there is this app called sms backup and restore. DOwnload it from the market. A factory reset is the easier way out. Note that your phone will go back to how it was when you first bought it.

Do you want to stop recieving emails when connected to gprs? You can turn sync off for your gmail account.

Thanks guys, had to restore to default factory settings and add a dummy account for market.

Btw is there any way to get classic inbox outbox sent type messaging without installing a separate app?

why not your main a/c? That dummy account will go online on gtalk as well as gmail sync

Secondly, no there is no way to get that without installing a separate app. Go sms pro has that feature though.

Because I don't want to provide free access of my private emails to everbody who got access to my mobile. ;)

I am also new to android, so wanted to know if there is a way to allow only selected apps to access internet?
