Really sorry for what happened with you.. but a thread in Show-Off was nice n cool idea..
But liked you spirit man!!
Only concern is your PAN Card n Driving License... Govt sucks in such cases... Damn:(

PAN card is quite easy to get. In fact all I need to do is fill up an application form, attach the copy of FIR and submit the fees of 90 bucks and need to submit all at the local ITO. So this thing can be sorted out in Gurgaon itself.

For License, I'll have to start afresh and too in my hometown. Long process. Need to get the learner's license first and then the Permanent License. Another 2 grands gone to drains.

You can get duplicate licence w/o any need for test.

I had lost my driving license once. I applied for duplicate license with help of agents(didn't had time). It costed me 500bucks included fees of agent. Didn't had to give any test, just filled a form at agent's office and handed over cash to him. Only think I had to do after that was to pick up license after few days from RTO office.

That is just cool but I do not have any details about the license now. The name on my license was not correct (misspelled). The address has changed now. I wonder how will they pull up the record.

I am afraid actually that after trying for the duplicate, I'll have to start afresh again. Two times the Kharcha/tension you see.

You will need only a Xerox copy of your original license to get duplicate licence OR Driving licence number will work too. To keep matters simple you can leave the address as it is, no problem with that. If you want to change address, they charge some additional fees for it.

sry for your loss, loose pants doesn't matter that much :P, they have a small very sharp knife or something, and they are so fast that you won't realize even if it is in front pocket(in crowded place, eg in bus where half of the people are standing). My father got pic-pocketed in Bhopal 3 years back, front(inner) pocket, in a big auto, there was a big large cut. I have heard stories where sometimes people do catch them while they are cutting the pocket, but its risky as they just throw around the knife and run away.

I have a habit of taking photographs(from mobile) of all my id cards/any imp documents(they are backed up time to time as well on PC with other photographs, I feel the most easiest way to managing them)..there are too many things nowadays.

regarding DL, it would matter where the RTO is, in my place, I can get a agent who will search all the records for me with my name and will get me DL the same day for some 500 to 1000 bucks(all depends upon in that office how much people are accustomed to suvidha shulk :P )

I am not so blessed, being in bureaucratic Punjab :P I am very sure they won't be able to locate my license. Still if its a matter of 500 bucks, I'll try to locate an agent.

Was your wallet in your back pocket? I always keep my wallet and mobile in the front pockets of my trousers/jeans whenever I travel by any means of public transportation.

Sorry for your loss.
same here.

Kudos to your spirit man.

BTW, For Receiving New PAN, you also can send a document sort of thing which came with your original PAN Card with FIR, and you will receive your new pan card.

Something similar happened with my wife in train, her purse was stolen, lost her Debit card, pan card and License.

We did not spend a single penny for new pan card or license. Only those stupid ICICI buggers charged us some 200 rupees.

:(

reallY !

:(

Hay i want to meet you !! i am coming to delhi and FBD tomorrow ! can we meet !
I pope the awesomeness of fx700 and RE262 , works off your sorrow ! :(

This is why i hate delhi/ncr. Every day murder, stealing, harrassment, rape, etc. In past 3months, i have seen goons try to steal mobiles from my colleagues at 8am in a lively place! And when he tried to escape/shout, those b@stards started shouting themselves twisting the tale! And police are dumb. Absolute dumb. Even God cant save this part country.

I've heard mumbai is much much better. True that?

yeah , the crime rate sure is high here , but thats due to us as well.

My Mobile was stolen at Gzb-delhi border 2 months in broad daylight ! i agree i was a bit careless !
