According to Square Enix, the publishers of the game series Tomb Raider - a next generation sequel to the 2013 game Tomb Raider is already "well into development".
A sequel was also previously hinted during comic-con by the head series writer of the comics - Gail Simone, who said that comics will be bridging the gap between the 2013 Tomb Raider and the next gen sequel.
This current new is being brought to us by Square Enix's CEO of Europe and North America - Phil Rogers. In a letter on the company's blog, he has discussed about the series stating that -
“I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently”
“In the future, we’ll offer gamers more choice, support more platforms and try new things – but we will make sure that whatever the platform, we’ll always keep our focus on raising the quality bar. We feel that is what gamers should expect from a Square Enix game.”
He is also spent the last few months “building a senior team in the Americas and Europe,” to further the development of the company and it's gaming ambitions.
The last Tomb Raider game released earlier this year on various platforms, and was critically acclaimed.
