Cracked while travelling in the train .. any idea where to get it repaired

Called ASUS tech support on : 1800-2090365. They checked the serial number and said that the support and all the part related information would be provided by Google.

Has anyone here been unlucky enough to get their tablet repaired ?? if so, then from where in mumbai .... HELP

found this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Latest-100-Original-For-ASUS-Google-Nexus-7-Touch-Screen-digitizer-free-shipping/733262760.html
would it be worth it to get it replaced as only the digitizer is cracked coz the screen is working fine

Updating my N7 to 4.2.1 is driving me nuts.

Earlier thought disk is full with apps and hence getting problem for updating. For the sake of it, now formatted my tab and still getting update failed/ aborted msges.

Tried updating from zip (after complete wipe) with CWM,

Restored stock recovery, tried updating OTA, same failed.

Messeges shown on screen are as below,

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/BrowserProviderProxy.odex"

E:Error in /cache/c01f18e07f87.signed-nakasi-J0P40D-from-JZ054K.c01f18e0.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Dont know what options are remaining now.

If you have CWM just flash the zip from google in CWM... no idea regarding the modem though

Any updates ?

not yet will be reoaring it by myself hace to place the order on ali expresd .... delayed due to end of year financial constrains

When i looked at ali express site, what stands out is the lower prices for digitisers for samsung or Apple tabs ($20-$30) but the link for your nexus was over 3x more expensive.

They have no ASUS parts there at all, would not say this is the best website for nexus parts.

Finally could update N7 to 4.2.1 and also could try AOKP rom (just for few mins). Found out problem was with the ADB driver installation which were failing wugfresh nexus tool kit scripts.

Btw i hate on screen button strip as well as top strip of notifications and clock etc. Its reduces screen real estate. Thought i would be able to remove top strip with AOKP rom based on one screen shot on web but it seems its for samsung tab. Anybody know options to increase screen space? It would have been better with bottom strip auto hides like windows taskbar. At least there should have been option to do that.

In landscape view both top and botton strip waste a lot of space.

Looks pretty neat. Tks for sharing info and quick reply. Something should be developed with bottom buttons as well, as strip thickness is bigger and most of its space is blank/ unused too. I wont mind sacrificing search option with swiping finger upwards at the bottom of the screen.

Hi any one from mumbai interested to buy 30 days old Nexus 7 16gb, i purchase for 16.5k . I live in thane so any1 wants to met up and check it, do pm me.

Installed Full!screen app and this is exactly what i wanted. Now screen with opera mini's slick UI look awesome. Feel a lot bigger.

Also changed default application installation location with following commands and hope that I dont get dreaded Insufficient disk space msg soon even after lot of apps installed.

adb shell pm get-install-location

adb shell pm set-install-location 1

I'm considering buying a 7 inch tablet this month but I can't decide if I should go for the Nexus 7 (made by Asus) or for the Galaxy Tab 7. Did anyone had a chance to compare them side by side? Let's say that I'm inclined to go for the full Google experience, meaning the Nexus 7. My worry is that it does not have the same build quality as the SGT.

Thanks! :)

what rom + kernel combo is everybody using? I'm using CM 10.1 with Franco but I'm facing considerable lag. Any recommendations?

Had hard time upgrading from 4.1.2 to 4.2.1 but when i switched to newer version, i felt like throwing out my N7 with pathetic wifi performance. Opera mini started taking 30 secs or even more for loading web pages. Installation/ update of apps took MINUTES before starting actual downloading data. Thought something is wrong with my device so tried flashing 2/3 times. Same problem. Also read on xda about people unhappy with 4.2.1.

Switched back to 4.1.2 and things were again normal. Opera mini opened pages swiftly so kept using same stock 4.1.2. Now when 4.2.2 released, again updated through OTA. Had to update twice i.e. 4.1.2 to 4.2.1 and then 4.2.2. And now I am stuck back with same wifi issues.

Anybody here having same problem? Using 4.2.2 for couple of days now. Might as well return to 4.1.2 but update notifications irritate like hell.

Seriously have google gone out of their mind? Why break things which were working fine before by giving sh1tty updates? Never expected this from google (one of my favorite companies).

Using the stock rom itself, i am getting a feeling of using bugged custom rom......

Anybody using AOKP or CM roms with latest builds? Are they working fine? Pl. share ur experiences.

Same here man, the interface has been lagging since 4.2.1.

I can't say whether CM 10.1 is any better than the stock rom in terms of lag because I've been using CM 10.1 for a while now and don't remember what stock rom was like, but I can tell you that there are moments when I feel like stomping on the fcuking tablet.

I feel like stomping on the fcuking tablet.

:D honest feelings. I share them too sometime. Can u share at what instances / scenarios ur tab is lagging? Its the UI or something else like network response in play store and browsers? My UI on stock rom is fine. network is screwed. Havent checked games on latest FW yet.

Seriously whats use of having some of the best hardware when software is bu!!sh1t.... Looking forward to dual boot linux/ Native ubuntu or Win RT, if at all it becomes possible. I hate not having flash too (needed it for accessing e-learning site, which i cant now).
