Nforce 4 Ultra

Asus A8ne

well..this is very wierd, its not a DHCP network..it working fine one moment and then suddenly the ping to my gateway starts timing out.
So, i bring out another computer n connect it to the network, to see that pings are normal.
Am presently browsing using a PCI lan card.
I tried uninstalling n reinstalling the drivers n all..but it just wont connect to the sify network.

Next thing i tried is connecting to another computer via a crosswired cable..works perfectly :S

am using 1010 bios and only the ethernet drivers provided by nvidia.

other strange stuff:
1) if i try to change ip address of NVlan, comp hangs. (No issue with pci lan tho)
2) if i try to uninstall, comp hangs.

Try reinstalling the latest lan drivers and make sure you don't install that shitty firewall. How long is the cable from ur comp to the switch?

will try that.
the cable from my place to the switch is quite long, almost 70-90mtrs.

i have one stupid doubt. While most ppl get <1ms ping to the gateway, i get something from 1ms-5ms..is the length of the cable the reason and is this having any drastic effect on my download speeds n gaming pings.

A long cable can lead to dropped signal... especially if the cable is of poor quality.
