NFS Porsche install issue

just picked up the CD of one of favourite games from the past-NFS Porsche 2000 (for Rs.99) from Crossword. when i tried to install it, the setup file wasnt running, so i flipped the CD case and saw that the CD was meant for Windows 95,98 and 2000. my PC runs on XP ,so i changed the compatibilty mode and tried it for Windows 95,98 and 2000; but the setup file still didnt run.
is there any way i can get the game to install?
 
i also had old copy of NFS PU and it was not working on XP ..... then i got *ahem* copy of the game from one of my fren and its working absolutely fine ....... i found somewhere on net that u have to change some configuration in one of the files and it sud work but don't remember it now ..... try googling :)
 
I have installed the game on many machines and there was no problem at all. The running of the game was another matter. For playing, you have to update it to the latest version (don't remember the version), change the compatibility mode to Windows 2000 and disable visual themes. . Since u're having problems installing, it's either a problem with your particular system or CD. Test it on another machine or get the CD replaced.

that patch is supposed to work only after the game has already been installed on the PC. in my case, the game is refusing to get installed.
 
Even I have the original cd, no issues for me...install happens normally
