Graphic Cards Nine 6600 GT's ( AGP ) reviewed

NIce FInd

Nice to c tht the best 6600gt is available here.......
wasnt thr a discussion bout this???
now only to c if thier service is better??

well, in almost all of the tests, Asus has the lead, but if usee the cost:performance afctor, i think Gigabyte is the best deal..

and intresting to see, not much difference between a 9800 pro and 6600 gt, about 200 difference and Asus has about 400 moer marks in 3dmark 05.

is the Asus clocked higher?

EDIT: Yea, its clocked higher alrite

but just completed the article, Leadtek awarded as the best, intresting, that zalman style HSF design helps it to run a lot cooler too

but just states that for India, Gigabyte is the best one to buy and not XFX :P

Yup...if u didnt go throu it properly :P u mite hav missed that, tht particualr model of ASUS is factory overclocked to 520/550 compared to othrs 500/450.

tht explains the advantage asus has over othrs :D
but certainly not worth over the gigabyte's nd leadtech in VFM

wonder where the XFX AGP is????...lol j/k

Other reviews found the XFX rev 2 to be the best.PPl have taken it to 580/1180 on stock cooling.Unfortunately some ppl had issues with it...

Yup...had read sme reviews bout tht....nd many ppl hav taken thier XFX to those speeds... but me was jokin bout XFX cuz of the current news tht their AGP counterparts r defective..... ;)

Well the best 6600gt IMO, is gigabyte's passively cooled one.Man, its got a really good cooling system as good as active ones, box OCed, and modders can put a fan on the hsf (or maybe 2 :D )and then its gonna OC like Hell :ohyeah:

the reviews dont entirely praise the passive cooling. though the card is stable n runs fiine, in one review (was it at PCstats, i dont remember now) the core touched 105C n the heatsink was burning hot at 85C.. ofcourse that was with poor ventilation inside the case. with proper ventilation the core never went about 65C or so.. but the thing is, the ambient temps here (in India) are higher.. so u need very good ventilation inside ur case, else u r better off with active cooling :)

I think the Gigabyte's Passive HSF did look like it had small screwholes for perhaps a fan to be screwed on? In that case, the cooling would do really well

In a few months we'll be talking about the 6700U or possibly the 7600GT,depending upon what nvidia calls G70 and its lil bro.I feel the next gen is much closer than we expect, its been a year since the 6800U made its debut.

THG's shootout of 6600's gave the Gigabyte passively cooled card as the best among all others(leadtek, gainward,MSI,etc), so it wouldn't be baaad....that's for sure.
Also i was reading an artilcle on thermaltake passive x800xl cooler(maybe it was Xbitlabs or Anadtech, don't remember). While they conducted tests, the tempratures were higher by 2-3 degress compared to x800xl orignal active cooler but when they've put a fan on the passive cooler, guess what, the tempratures were down almost by 15 degrees down compared to x800xl active cooler :ohyeah: . So when you put a fan on passive cooler, it becomes really efficient.

maaan.. i am sooo sleepy tonite.. there is every chance i confused that gigabyte X800XL review for 6600GTs .. :| tnx for pointing it out..

The point is you can always make u'r passive cooler active, if u aren't satisfied with u'r passive cooler :)
It'll be even easier for you, with Sunny around ;)

Nope, infact the mid range chips hit the market atleast 6 months after the flagship product hits the market. We are not talking about paper launches here, a very good eg is ATi X800XL series which are found only recently. Nvidia has also abandoned its 6 month lifecycle, but with the sucess of the NV4x they seemed to eased out, though ATI X800 counterparts are equally good if not better availbity has been a big issue.
