News Nintendo Switch 2 becomes fastest selling console at launch in history!

You're right to point out the interesting position of the Nintendo Switch 2 in relation to the PS4 Pro! While the PS4 Pro was a powerful console for its time, the Switch 2 is demonstrating performance that often rivals or even surpasses it in key areas, despite being a handheld device
To think that it still does not or for a fair point ..let's say is equal to ps4 pro ..mean they are still 10 years behind in hardware.

Their game lineup and experience is so solid that they get away with this every time.

Imagine the profit margin they might be having to sell such old hardware at $450.

Just a rough estimate ...I am guessing they must be making $200 on each console.

Bechara Sony and Microsoft literally have to sell at loss.

In india nitendo Switch 2 ke price me ps 5 with disk ajayega....and game ke bare me to kya hi kahe....
Nintendo Switch 2 in comparison to switch 1 is almost $200 more. I saw some news coverage of the launch date ....many though a big fan were still complaining about it being expensive.

thats fans complaining about high prices.....general gamers will be thinking 3 times about Switch 2.

Nintendo switch 2 screen punctures by Gamespot to attach the bill.

Nintendo must have kept the box very thin paper like almost it seems.

Anyways good that those gamers got it replaced. Hum flamethrower leke pahuch jata if they would have denied replacing it for me incase.

Good choice girl.

The margin is the reason they were able to bear the warehouse cost associated with stockpiling all these launch units which Microsoft and Sony cannot do considering the hardware is being sold at a loss.

After the Wii U, Nintendo really had to sell at low margin to be sure to move units. Now they know they can fleece their devoted fanbase again.

If I remember correctly back in days of ps3 . One Sony guy had given an interview saying warehouse cost is $15 per unit.

So still $200- $15/20 = $180/$185 approx margin is too good.

5-year old hardware aside, they even skimped on the screen. The OLED refresh cycle will be another monetisation exercise.

Nintendo is really pushing the limits of their fan base this time around, so have to see how well the sales hold up for casual users.

Not exactly a great home console experience as per Mrwhosetheboss.

Maybe future titles will decide its faith as of now ...nothing worth buying the console.
Anyone purchasing it now is doing so because they are a hardcore Nintendo fan and want to play Mario Kart World. All third party titles released years ago on other platforms are underwhelming on the Switch 2 due to its hardware limitations.

Sales are driven on account of first party titles, which is also the reason Nintendo clamps down so hard on emulators. Whether casual fans feel the need to spend that much to mostly play Nintendo exclusives remains to be seen.

I dont see any great first party titles in near future either.
Maybe except donkey kong.

Let's see how this goes..

Xbox is also now entering handheld and I think Sony will be entering soon too.

Nintendo will face much tough challenge.

The Nintendo Switch 2, features a custom Nvidia T239 SoC with an 8-core ARM Cortex-A78C CPU (running at up to 1.1 GHz handheld, 0.998 GHz docked) and a significantly more modern Ampere-based GPU with 1536 CUDA cores, capable of 3.07 TFLOPS when docked and supporting advanced rendering technologies like DLSS and ray tracing. In contrast, the much older PlayStation 4 (released 2013) utilizes an 8-core AMD Jaguar x86-64 CPU clocked at 1.6 GHz (2.13 GHz on the PS4 Pro) and an AMD Radeon-based GPU from the GCN 2nd generation, offering 1.84 TFLOPS (4.20 TFLOPS on the PS4 Pro), placing the Switch 2's graphical prowess and CPU architecture in a significantly more advanced generation.

More than Switch 2, these specs make me more excited about Nvidia Shield 2. Switch 1 and the last Shield shared the same SoC, I believe. If Nvidia finally decides to release a Shield revision even with gimped version of this SoC and cut down on battery, joycons and screen and all those extras, we could have a TV box much more powerful to support all the modern software/codecs as well as a great emulation beast. I hope they haven't forgotten Shield completely in their AI drama.

I've started avoiding him now as he's doing a lot of clickbait stuff. Comparing docked Switch 2 to PS5? How? Why?
It's a handheld console with optionality to pkay on TV with slight boost. Just a stupid comparison.
Compare that to LTT's seemingly decent video - yes, S2 has its flaws, but it's an amazing hand held console for playing 1st party Nintendo games.

MrWTB is just trying to be different since there's only so much one can say for a simple iterative handheld like Switch.

Not sure where you're getting this info. Some 3rd party can't upscale anything since their initial textures were just poor quality (like Batman games). Modern Vintage Gamer and SwitchUp are doing fabulous reviews on popular S1 games performance, res bump etc.
Most games run better on S2 - not a surprise. There are still some compatibility issues (like Alan wake), but it's not widespread. Nintendo's own numbers pitch about 95% games working fine.

There is a reason why Nintendo continues to sell by the dozen despite supposedly weak on paper internals. And its unlikely YT tech influencers will ever cover that aspect.

Every single generation, for the past several gens, they have nailed the ease of use aspect that appeals in a huge way to a normal non tech inclined person.

At one end of the extreme, I am a geek , have been one since as long as I can remember. Part of the fun of owning a handheld like a legion go or rog ally for me is also in the effort that it takes to make it work

In the middle, you have something like a PS5 - easy to pick and start using. However The vast majority of games do have a learning curve though .
My son loves the unit and part of the fun of using it (for him) is the satisfaction of mastering the learning curve associated with games like (e.g.) Horizon

And then there is Nintendo - on saturday evening, my wife (non gamer), kid and I plonked ourselves on the LR couch and had a blast playing mario party mini games
And we do that every now & then with plenty of similar games.
Almost two decades ago, my dad and I used to do the same on games like the then Mario party and Rayman raving rabbids

Whats even more interesting is how often this ease of welcome can be deceiving. A group of rank newcomers will take 1 min to have a blast with mario kart
But spend some time with the game and you will realize how deep it goes.

So am I the target market for Switch 2?
my mind would say no and start looking at adding switch 2 games to the steam launcher via a ryujinx script on a more powerful handheld

My heart would however still tug me to get one

Switch 1 games definitely run better on Switch 2 due to the additional headroom, despite the emulation or translation layer.

I was talking about third party launch titles. For example, Cyberpunk 2077 is running at 720p with DLSS, so the native resolution is quite low. Similarly, for Phantom Liberty, it drops to below 20 fps despite the 40 fps target.

Point was that there is not much reason to play these old titles on the Switch 2 and the true launch titles are missing.

My advice wait a bit of you can. The console is just updated version of switch with not much to offer in software as of now. But your call.

I think he is fair in his comparison to home consoles. he points out comparison with PS5 mainly due to price also.
PS5 turns out cheaper but performs much better. So that is a fair point.
