In Japan
In Japan, Nintendo Wii is upholding its bestseller tradition and is still on a selling rampage. In February alone, Wii sold 331,627 units while PS3 sold a measly 89,131. That’s almost a 4-1 ratio, and it’s apparently been rising since January saw Wii beat PS3 by 3-1.

Wii has kept the lead ever since this console battle started, and their strategy where they offer simple yet innovative games in order to draw more people has apparently worked. Compared to Sony and Nintendo, Microsoft is not faring that well in Japan, and they sold just 14,079 XboX 360 consoles.

it seems japanese economy is degrading..they r nt buying costly n latest gizmo.,,what happened to them???? lol lol lol

I'm gonna save the Sony fans the trouble and say it's because everyone in Japan is saving up for the 80 GB PS3 version that comes with the game of all games - MGS4. The Game that will make every other game out there slit their wrists.

Wii's gonna be the most sold console this generation, and that's simply because because of its price range. PS3 and X360 are in a war now, Wii isn't.

Despite the fact it's only 50$ cheaper than the nearest X360? Surely, it has nothing to do with the unique playing style it offers.

Ofcourse it does, did I ever say it didnt? Point is had Wii been priced in the leagues of the proper X360 and PS3 even with its unique style, I really don't think it would've made so many sales like it has now. You need HDTV's to complete PS3/X360, not for Wii. Its just 250$ flat.

lol kumar ....nope actually i check 4-5 sites every 6-8 hours for some news...its jus that fudzilla is ahead...and these days daily tech lags.....i would had been lucky if i had worked for them

Sure that must be the reason. Also all the economies of Europe and America must be in regression too.

I really am tempted to pick up a Wii. With a mod chip its going for about 15 K in Palika. Once it goes under 10K it will hit the sweet spot and I will get one. If only for the Gamecube backwards compatability.

Oh and outselling PS3 4 to 1? Did the PS3 sales pick uprecently in Japan? :ohyeah:

50$ isn't within the X360's league?

If we're gonna be pedantic about it, then you'd require a TV capable of 480p to complete the Wii as well which leaves out a lot of CRT's including my own.

Oh come' on, X360 without the hard drive? Do stats show this verison of console getting any higher sales over the X360 with hard drive? With which you will still need to put extra costs like Live and Wifi? HDTV is a must. Combined costs does put Wii in godly cheaper mode than full fledged x360.

Get composite cables for the wii and you're set for 480i, last I checked.

Ah, but the Wii also requires a separate storage solution and, technically, the PS3 can also make do with 1080i which many HDTV's can do.
