Ninth employee death reported at Foxconn China plant:

A male employee fell to his death from the roof of the employee dorm of Foxconn Electronics' (Hon Hai Precision Industry's) Shenzhen factory on May 14, marking the ninth fatality at the facility in the past three months.

Does these points to

1.lower labour pays ?
2.high mental & physical strain ?
3.high working hrs/low work breaks ?

Foxconn is the OEM for many brands esp Asustek,MSI,Dell ....
they makes Sony PSP,PS2,now PS3
also apples all products including iphones ,ipads (2010), Mac books, & ipods.
Phones for Nokia, Motorola & Sony Erriscon ...and more....

also few days back many china manufactuers also fined for child labour (in mant IT related hardware cos, including microsoft hardware OEMs).

what does all these means ?????????????

report taken from: China News/Reuters/AP

Does Indian IT companies are free from all these.. or else...

It is inappropriate to compare the condition with Indian IT companies because we have negligible hardware manufacturing in India and secondly all the labour employed in India is highly skilled(seems so:p). OTOH It is difficult to understand what software techies go through as there is no surveys conducted/published regularly except by some companies who have internal procedures to keep an eye on employee health which is of-course rarely reported.

Coming to the topic its high time all MNC's have stringent standards for the vendors who manufacture hardware not just in their parent country but also apply the same standards of labour in countries like China.
