Juggernaut
Requirements :
I was looking to purchase for my dad so should be easy to operate and carry
No need of Google or Alexa integration and not those speakers with party/disco lights
Budget within 5 - 6k
Stereo (not mono nor dual pairing) with decent bass
Brands : Sony, JBL, Bose
Connection : Bluetooth (v5 preferred) and wired
Battery backup at least 5-6 hours
I have shortlisted the below but will welcome better suggestions based on experience -

Tribit maxsound plus gets good reviews. I've never heard of the flip essential

Here is a comparison review

The second track with headphones shows the JBL does not sound as full as the maxsound plus

Later variants of the tribit come with usbc, the ones sold might still come with microusb. no biggie.

maxsound plus is the one to look at. Ignore the cheaper tribit variants

Those are Dad's brand preferences and try I as much as possible I cannot change his mind..lol
Let him listen to them then if you can find them in a shop

From 3 years ago, the tribit has a fuller sound compared to the JBL & Sony in this review

Tribit will sound good between 30-60% volume which is an ideal range.

Higher than that it all goes thin as the limiters reduce bass to protect the drivers.

Any idea which offline store stocks Tribit ?
Tell that Boat is a sub-brand of Bose? :tonguewink:
He is old but not that old !
Bose does make great speakers. I used a Companion 2 for almost 10 years before it conked off. Great speakers. I have no idea of how they are doing in the poortable space though.

Even though the tracks in the review were not representative of the entire spectrum (more highs than lows) I know Tribit is well regarded and sounds better.

Nothing on Croma or reliance. There are just the reviews I posted and I think you should have good enough headphones to listen with

This also means there is no service available when the battery dies. It will be a DIY job as with the others as well.

I played it safe and ordered the JBL. They have their service center in Kolkata in case of any issue.

Depending on use I think the flip will be more durable given it has bumpers on either end. Might handle a drop a little better.

The tribit seems more fragile in comparison.

How much will they charge to replace the battery if such a service even exists? Why not call them up
