i have upgraded my system to:
1. FX6300
2. ASUS M5A97 R2.0

now i have a old DVD RAM with IDE port and I need to connect this on my MOBO ASUS M5A97.
Since this MOBO donot have any IDE port... i guess i will have to use a PCI-IDE card.
can anyone guide me where can i get this in mumbai ??
Or is there any other option????

Its best to buy a new sata dvd writer instead of spending money on pci converter. you can try selling the old ide drive in the market

Buy a SATA <--> IDE converter, for about 200 bucks or less. Unless you use the DVD drive often, in which case, it makes more sense to buy a new DVD drive.[DOUBLEPOST=1377448245][/DOUBLEPOST]You can get it from almost any computer shop, or from Lamington Road.

SATA <> IDE connectors are a hit-n-miss, pure luck stuff. Sometimes they work, sometimes don't.

In case you do get one remember that the connector has two cables to be plugged-in - on the SATA-side. Reason for mentioning is that most of them do no come with a user-guide. I've had personal experience and was not happy in the end. Bought a new drive.

All the best!
