Usb 2.0 & Sata 2.0 will remaing as mainstream ports till the end of the year. So as a future upgrade buying a pc now with just 2 usb 3.0 or 2 sata 3.0 will make no sence coz 2011 will launch all mobos & HDDs & usb drives with USB 3.0 & mobos will have plenty of slots like we have right now the usb 2.0. In addition to it need to pay extra cash just for ports which we are not sure when we are gonna use it.

Microsoft & Intel has joined hands together to unleash USB 3.0 in thier upcoming release of windows 8.0 around 2011.:@

Good news is gigabyte:cool2: has already launched pci express usb 3.0 cards for our usb 2.0 mobos just plug in for Rs.2000(approx) & you can enjoy usb 3.0 in mear future...

So people who has already bought mobo without usb3.0 need not curse themself... take a chill pill :hap2:

Well USB 3.0 will indeed be officially supported by Microsoft later but mobo companies are already bringing products with NEC USB 3.0 controller & drivers....

Gigabyte has few H55 mobo with separate controllers for both SATA III & USB 3.0 for Intel platform. AMD has implemented SATA III in its SB850 itself & left enough bandwidth for mobo manufacturers to implement a USB controller till they officially support it...

Most people will not loose anything even if they get a USB 2.0 mobo since almost every mobo has those tiny PCIe 1x slots to install the controller card as you suggested.. As for SATA III its useless for everybody unless SSD's become mainstream & economical 'coz current magnetic based HDD's cannot even exploit the full bandwidth of existing SATA controllers....

So don't fret, Nobody is worried if they do not have SATA III & USB 3.0 still... :bleh:

When people come to know it transfers data @ 6gb\sec people will worry that dont have native supports on their mobos & might think of changing mobos right after a year will definitely burn their pockets..

^.. Which planet are you from... Tell me one current gen Magnetic HDD (that we use regularly), which can use the full bandwidth of even SATA II..

Its only SSD's which can take advantage of SATA III fully but I don't see their prices falling anytime soon.. not at least another three years..

By that time every one would be happy to upgrade...

Which ever planet i might be that has nothing to do with what your saying I am not comparing usb 2.0 or sata 2.0 with usb 3.0 & sata 3.0

Dont you think its always good to have native support rather keep pushing cards ?? people embrace technology soon that i need not debate upon.. If your running single hdd your not gonna exploit anything you need to go for raid configuration..

dude, there is not much price difference between a USB2 P55 mobo and a USB3 P55A mobo. Actually, if you check NewEgg, there is no price difference at all. Same with the Asus boards. Obviously, in India, the local dealers try to squeeze out some money, but even then the difference is around 500/-

So, when the difference is so small, why not by the USB3 one? With Gigabyte, it makes more sense since they have also increased the power output capacity of all USB ports by a factor of 3. And the USB3 boards of both Gigabyte and Asus also come with SATA3.

Obviously, all this only applies to someone who is already in the market for a new mobo. It would be stupid to upgrade your mobo just for this thing.

^.. No point arguing with him... He is pushing native support & en-lighting people on the perils of getting an addon USB card later. People who do not have this right now will be devastated......

@sydras... I doubt that there will be a PCI USB 3.0 controller card since the bandwidth is nothing compared to what USB 3.0 offers...

@OP... Really you are not comparing the bandwidth of newer controllers... :S

Start a poll & see how many people run RAID.... How many USB 3.0 devices do you have right now...

Not everybody is crying over if they do not have USB 3.0 & SATA III still..

Do you know the prices they command. How many of these are available in India except a handy few.... .:bleh:

Don't be a jumping jack. You are under the illusion that nobody really knows about these new tech & their bandwidth except you.... When the time comes people can & will get the addon card if they require it... So why are you making a fuss proving your point. Right now nobody is wrecked if they do not have these tech. on their mobos with native support. Those who absolutely want these can & will get the mobos with separate controllers which are available in the market...

It doesn't hold a practical ground if there is no native support of USB 3.0 & SATA III still.....

hail stone : have you checked the bench marks of usb 2.0 Vs usb 3.0 ?? pen drives & portable hdd are already out ..

You are the true GENIUS...

Hah.. And how do you think those USB3 and SATA 3 ports are connected on a motherboard with native support for USB3 and SATA 3? Though the same PCI Express bus. Just because they are integrated doesn't mean that they are routed in a different manner. It doesn't matter whether its integrated or installed via an expansion card. If there are going to be problems they will happen in both cases and the only difference is that you will be able to remove the problematic hardware if its on a seperate card. The advantage with integration is that you will can have a tonne of ports (that you probably never use) without having to install expansion cards.
