everythin else works on the board.

@sorcerer will try dis but the thing is that in DM too no device shows so dunno wht d driver will do anywayz

its the onboard sound controller that has RIPPED....if it doesnt show up in the device manager its either cause its bios disabled or its kaputed.........

in bios there is an option for onboard audio enabled/disabled
check that

and also if u r on xp
then try installing nvidia audio drivers and see..

while i was on xp i never used realtek drivers i was always using nvidia audio controller.
u may have to manually install it by add hardware and pointing to the nvidia inf files.

hey you xp is corrupt i think update laster version of realatk form website

i have same problem at my old 939 socket mo i try you fix some registry tweak and update new version from net also check for registry cleaner and machine problem

it cant b xp coz i formattd n installd fresh.........infact wht does reg gotta do with dis???
i mentiond d audio contoller isnt showin up in device manager.

It showed in the device manager. But I couldnt find the volume bar. This is a common issue on a8n series board-sli and on the E version. The idea which i gave to you worked for some and some did not. Eventually, many gave up and put some el cheapo sound card. Its not the BIOS, its some unknown glitch on the onboard sound card which Asus werent (and didnt care) to solve the issue. It is not XP. Trust me, been there done that.

Try emailing to asus lets see what solution can give you.

If sound is not coming then U need to re install OS.
