This is related to my deal in market thread for Golla Denim bag for mobiles

I had sold it to forum member Lavii, payment was made from his side on 20th Sep and I delivered it via Speedpost on the same day itself, now three days later, the tracking details are showing as article delivered, whereas Lavii didn't received anything as per the PM he sent me.

I was confused myself since I never had any issues with Speedpost, heck even I had sent Galaxy SII via speedpost twice for replacement. Reached safely both the times.

Since I was out of station for the weekend I couldn't goto the SpeedPost office at Vellore, where I posted it from. I have mailed to the Speed post offices in Delhi, Chennai & Noida regarding the entire issue.

Today morning I got a reply from the chennai SPC and then I called them up to file a complaint for missing package, meanwhile Lavi called me up that the personnel at Noida SPC aren't responding over phone, so he's going to them directly.

Lavi went to the Noida Head Office and called me up saying that these people are bluntly answering that if package is shown as delivered, it is delivered that's it. Then they say, go ask the postman and they weren't giving his contact number and were asking Lavi to come again in the evening. After arguing they showed him the delivery sheet, to our shock, someone has made a fraud signature on lavi's name and took the package.

I immediately called up chennai SPC and informed them the same and they said they can't do much since the article is delivered to Noida HO, so anything must be done from there itself. They asked me to file a complaint against the postman in the Noida HO via email, which I did after the call.

Meanwhile Lavi also filed a complaint with HeadPostmaster of Noida HO regarding the same, he asked lavi to write an application and they'll look into it. If there was a clear case of fraud, why can't they just speedup the issue before the article is gone forever, huh!!!

This is my first deal as a seller and it has already gone bad, Which is very disturbing to me. I understand what lavi might be going through, after paying money for it and not receiving it and moreover all this on top of that.

All through this, the people at chennai SPC were very co-operative, but I didn't receive a single response from either Noida HO or Delhi SPC :@

Please suggest us, what can be done regarding this issue.

Sad to hear that, now even speedpost is not safe :@

Next time i think i will have to personally deliver the stuff that i will have to sell

UPDATE;

Just now got a call from Lavi, he's still at Noida HO. He got a call from his home that some speedpost package has been delivered. Looks like the complaints have worked. We are not sure of the condition of the package as of now, but both of us are extremely frustrated regarding the issue, we are going ahead with the complaint for a lousy delivery & erroneous tracking updates.

Will update the thread once Lavi checks the package.

Do let us know about the contents. If they were fine.

Indian post is pretty pathetic. I do not know how many times I haven't received packages sent from UK through royal mail. Poor store had to end up shipping through UPS high priority.

Thank God everything is fine, package is safe & nothing is tampered with. Confirmed with Lavi just now. Looks like the postman wanted to avoid issues coz they should refund money if the package is not delivered on third day as per their rules.

So he over-enthusiastically signed the sheet himself and marked the package as delivered yesterday itself whereas he delivered it today. Huh.

Anyways Speedpost was the only safe thing for me so far apart from Bluedart, something like this was really worrying. It's just a mistake of one postman after all.

After reading the original post, I was terrified. Speed post is still the safest way to ship such items. With Noida I was more scared. I guess this 3 day delivery thing is what made the post man sign himself. However ask the Noida guy to keep post man's number. Will be helpful in future.

I am to receive a consignment via speed post this week and i shudder with the experience shared here. Will have to keep fingers crossed till i receive the package.

@all

I hope this is just a one off event coz it never happened to me before. Speedpost is safe normally.

But to all those worried about such issues with Speedpost, here's something I got to know.

There is something called "Proof of Delivery"(POD) card in Speedpost, which costs Rs. 10, it looks like a printed postcard where one should fill your details & receiver's details and attach it along with your package.

On reaching, The postman gets it signed from the receiver during delivery and then posts it back to you as proof of delivery. The presence of this card might alert the postman that we mean business, so there is less chance of foulplay.

This is really scary.

I think Lavii should formally lodge a complaint/feedback with respective PO/ Head office if possible. What answer the post master has now, to his initial claim about packet delivery based on the sheet. It is a serious matter and must go into records.

Glad to know he got the packet safe and sound eventually.

He did file a complaint with head postmaster regarding this even after receiving package. I filed a complaint too, via mail. I'm not sure they'll take it seriously now, as the package is delivered.

I was at Foreign Post in Delhi this Monday to clear up a customs issue, and saw how carelessly they treat the package, infact in a few recent packages all that was left was a empty plastic packet and nothing inside (judging by the size, they could not have been sent that way). I guess this is the reason foreign packages get lost and never get delivered so many times. I am not going to use EMS or any such postal service from here on thats for sure.

This is quite common with blue dart as well, in case they are not able to ship it next day, they mark the status as "address not correct/no one present/contact customer care" or similar and than ship it next day. Though no one doubt them as they do ship next day and do not mention as delivered.

Its the same with reputed shipping companies like UPS ,the lazy bangalore UPS employees give all sorts of reasons.

My courier arrived from Bhuvaneshwar (Orissa). Dispatched on tuesday, i recd it on thurday. No damages whatsoever.

Basically was a bubble wrapped PS3 Game. Very reasonable charges for the sender as well: Rs 34/-

The site for tracking was pleasantly very detailed as well. Overall very satisfactory.
