Nokia 5233 listed for 7475/- in ebay and 7237 in poorvika mobile

The new Nokia 5233 has been listed in ebay and poorvika mobiles for under 7.5k INR.

The phone specs are similar to Nokia 5230.
One major difference is this is a 2G. I am not able to find any other difference.

It doesn't seem to have GPS while the 5230 does. Possibly an important feature now that Ovi Maps are free on all GPS enabled Nokia phones.

Nokia 5233 Details

Nokia 5233 has got similar specifications & details of Nokia 5230. Nokia 5233 simply just don’t have 3G transceiver. It seems like this that Nokia 5230 has got some problem, so Nokia manufactured Nokia 5233.

Nokia 5233 has got GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 – no 3G. It has 3.2 inch full touch screen. The camera of Nokia 5233 is 2.0 MP Camera with Video Recording at 30fps. FM Radio is inbuilt in Nokia 5233. The phone has got 3.5 mm jack. It has got integrated A-GPS. It has got Ovi Maps 3.0 application.

Nokia 5230 was launched at Rs. 9000 & the price slashed down to around Rs. 8500. Nokia 5233 price is only Rs. 7800. This kind of price range is really amazing deal for Symbian model phones.

Even some mobile phone retail shop-keepers say that Nokia must have got intention to replace Nokia 5230 with Nokia 5233. And some of the dealers say that Nokia 5230’s supply has been stopped & Nokia 5233 is only available at the market..

Some info i was able to get in net about the 5233. Even the 5230 thread has some info about the unavailability of the 5230 and dealers saying only the 5233 mobile is available with them.

Now this phone lacks 3G. But the Nokia 5230 had 3G and the only thing missing from it was wifi and a inferior cam compared to 5800XM.

If they unavailability news is true, then did nokia stop it coz it was cannibalizing their own product???
 
Those who bought this ,please confirm if you guys have GPS working ?

Just turn on GPS without AGPS . i.e try you use the GPS without AGPS , turn off the GPRS or EDGE or any other data connection and see if GPS works .

Also if you guys can confirm if the latest free OVI nokia maps are installed /can be installed and used on this ?

all ur answers are answered in the other 5230 thread,
5233 -no gps ,no movie watching,(as no real player),no games ,no 3g,
slower proccessor speed
dude,the 5230 was already very low priced for the features,i am not surprised if nokia was bearing losses on this model
 
Errrr.......5233 comes with Real Player installed by default, and i have installed more than 20 games on my 5233 in the limited time i have got till now !

No games? Oh really?? :/ . Please check your phone again. And why do you think they'd use a slower processor? As it has already been confirmed by Nokia, it's exactly like 5230 but without 3G and GPS(taken from Nokia support site)! And Nokia bearing losses for this phone? :lol: :lol:
 
Bro ... i have used both phones SIDE BY SIDE, The only differences i have found till now is GPS and 3G. Nuthing else.

BTW: Any one interested in a 4 Day old 5233 ???? :P
 
Price drop on Nokia 5233.... selling for around 6.6~6.7k on Univercell stores now. Expect 5.5k soon in 10-15 days in ebay after using coupon.

Damn how will ppl sell their phones now ...feel so sad for them :rofl:
 
^^ Its already selling for arnd 81XX on ebay....so arnd 7.2k or so max after coupon. That in itself is a kickass price :D...dont thing it will come down to 7.5k retail price at least before 1-2 mnths
 
i saw it for 7k today when i went to buy my nokia 6303 from the nokia store in ahmedabad.
 
Prices have dipped in univercell :D

Nokia 5233 - 6.7k (VAT inclusive)

Nokia 5230 - 7.6k (VAT inclusive)

Hope now the Corby S3653 price dips to 5.5-6k pretty soon :)
