Nokia 5320 vs. SE K810i

I am planning to buy a new phone for my kid sister. My budget is around 10k. Priorities - music, FM, looks.

I have zoomed in on two options - Nokia 5320 Express Music, and SE K810i.

Which would be better?

I know it might be pretty subjective, but all opinions are welcome. Also, if you have any suggestions for other phones in this price range, they are welcome too.

One concern I have is that at least on the Mobile Store site, the talk time of 5320 is given as just 3.5 hrs, while K810i's is given as 10 hrs. Is the battery life of the 5320 really so poor?

Also, are there any good phones in this price range (~10k) with GPS functionality?

SE K810i is much better built and is faster and easier to operate. The camera is really really better than 5320.

You already know about the battery life.

So K810 is a clear winner.
 
I believe the Sony K810i has better hardware : 3.2 MP Camera vs 2.0 MP on the Nokia, with Autofocus (very imp) and Image Stabilization.

The USP of 5320 is its software : the Symbian OS with S60. Basically u can add extra 3rd party "native" applications, like u can with ur PC. However this doesnt seem to be very critical for u.

Do keep in mind that both of these aren't that great music players. Given your requirements, I'd suggest the K810.

At this price range, which phones would be the best for music? (Speaker is not that important - I mean about earphones.)
 
among the two phones that you mentioned,the nokia 5320 is way better as a music player. It has better sound through both earphones and speakers,supports more formats,has shortcut music keys,and a 3.5mm standard jack.
disadvantages include poor batter life(u have to charge daily), and also looks quite cheap......
in your price poont I will consider it as a good option.. also do consider the nokia 5610 slider and SE w580
 
I do hav a Nokia 5320 Xpressmusic and i can tell u its battery isn't that bad..May be 5320 may hav some issues with it earlier..

It drains after 2 days which isn't bad..:)
 
For me, the 5320 is a clear winner because:
¤ it runs on Symbian S60. So ur sister will be able to run any file format she wants. The compressed formats like .rm files save a lot of storage space.
¤ Has a 3.5mm earphone jack. So u can plug in any earphone.
¤ Ngage support
¤ Good sound quality
¤Accepts standard memory card i.e microSD

The K810i is a loser here since:
¤ has a very bad keypad with knobs instead of keys. It will really hurt the fingers if ur sitser sends a lot of sms'es. I have personally used the keypad and hate it.
¤ accepts only Proprietary, overpriced memory cards. The person above who wants you to buy a 4GB card must have a lot of spare money around to blow on a overpriced card. The Memory Stick M2 costs 2-4times more than a similar capacity microSD card. What good is a music player without adequate space for storing the songs.
¤ Limited audio/video codec support.
 
i have used the k810i and it is still with my gf....

the biggest concern with the fone is the joystick and pathetic after sales service through local sony ericsson service centers (unless u go to salora international at lamington road )

my story....

dust went inside the fone thru the joystick area...

they say WARRANTY VOID...

i asked him ... itna sa dust hai .. ek brush ghuma .. it will be gayab.. he says VOID...
 
Bought a SE K810i for Rs. 11,238 from The Mobile Store, Kochi. Got a 2GB memory card free with it. So far, my sister absolutely loves the phone. :cool2:

for camera I'd go for the SE K810, for music, messaging and extensibility in terms of applications and file support Id go for the 5320.
