I have no idea about this "jealously thing, you're going on about. Thanks to my job, I'll probably be able to look at the Tube before any of you guys, because I'll be there at the launch. If I like the Tube, I'll pick it up, plain and simple. But that isn't going to happen unless Nokia fires their design team overnight :P

I never said the Tube is a bad phone. What I did say is that it's ugly as sin. And it's slow as f*ck. But then again, I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt regarding its speed until I get my hands on it. For the lack of a better analogy, if you enjoy jumping into bed with an ugly chick (however good she might be) good for you. At least you're truthful about your tastes.

Back to the topic at hand, Nokia does have some good lookers, my top 3 phones in terms of looks and aesthetics are the iPhone, The BlackBerry Bold, and the Nokia E71. It's typical of you Nokia fanboys to jump the gun and get your panties in a twist when someone says anything against a Nokia phone. My dog's mug of a face looks better than the average Nokia phone. Here's a suggestion, stop wearing panties to begin with.

Those idiots can't even write in proper English :P Just because their reviews span tens of pages, it doesn't mean you go gaga about them.

Lord Nemesis, I find you a lot more knowledgeable than the other bunch of fanboys on this page. So tell me, how have you missed this feature in iPhone OS 2.0, launched this June?

Instead of laughing, I'm just going to say that your Apple cred is down to minimal.

So let me state it again, since you fanboys didn't read it right the first time: the Tube is ugly as sin! Don't start whining again about the features and whatnot because I'm talking about the phone's looks. If you do start crying again, it's merely being evasive and cowardly :P

Ahh..tactically correct... head and tail both are mine...:P

Party monger is patiently waiting for the tube to launch so he can flash it to the apple fanbois and watch them turn red wid jealousy:P

Lol mobile-review is a Russian site, that why they are a bit off in thier English. That doesn't mean they are technically incompetent.

A big statement u made man ! I am enlightened :D....shit no one here in Blore TE meet have iphones ! Otherwise I would have gt it and dropped it accidentally ! Then you see the phun

Kewl ...its like one will rather date and m@rry a sl@t rather than something else ....hahah...afterall she is hot ! Even if the insides r not :P

the Tube is ugly as sin!

His taste is different ! like someone likes sea water rather tahn mineral water

Apple suck. Inviting all Nokia techies :D...lets rip apart the apple banbois

Damn where is superczar !!

Didn't know its already fixed in the 3G. But my point is why do they have to have a new phone to fix such things. They could have done it long back in the first phone. Let me tell you, That's because they have a huge base of fanbois who will keep buying every iteration of the phone regardless of the improvements. LOL iFanboi's crib about N96 saying its nothing more than N95 in a new shell. So whats new in iPhone 3G apart from the the addition of half baked 3G support and a software update that fixes some things that should already have been done in the original version. As long as they know they have enough fanboi's they will keep making new phones to and sell them instead of fixing the problems in the existing phone and giving them in the form of free software updates.

LOL, that coming from a guy using an iPhone. What does that make of the iPhone. large cigarette case like mobile that does not even fit peoples pockets properly. Nothing stylish, Same old boring Mac OS UI that looks fugly without a proper theme. None of Mac OS/Symbian/Win Mobile phones have cool looking UI for that matter. If you want stylish looking phones with cool UI you have to check out those east and south eastern markets.

Who is gonna be the winner? Here are my opinions, broken down in 10 categories.

1) Display

Nokia 1 - Apple 1

The new Nokia phone is provided with a 3.2″, 16:9 - 640×360 nHD display with up to 16M colors. An accelerometer is included, so that the screen automatically rotates depending on the orientation of the phone.

The iPhone’s screen is a little bit bigger (3.5″) but the resolution is less, being 480×320. Not having tried the 5800 yet, I cannot tell you more, but I would say I would prefer a better resolution over a not much bigger screen.

2) Size

Nokia 1 - Apple 0

The iPhone is bigger, on average (a little bit longer 115mm vs 111mm, thinner 12.3mm vs 15.5mm and larger), that means the Nokia is about 25g lighter. Not a big deal, both of them are portable and designed to fit well in your hands. Having a smaller width, the Nokia should be easier to operate with one hand only.

3) Memory

Nokia 1 - Apple 0

While the iPhone comes in two versions, 8GB and 16GB internal memory, the Nokia is offered with 8GB only through a micro SD card. The latter is definitely a more flexible solution since it’s very easy and relatively cheap upgrading to 16GB, something iPhone’s owners cannot do.

4) Network

Nokia 0 - Apple 0

Both phones are provided with a complete range of available voice and data networks, both GSM and 3G, and both phones come in two different versions for 3G (850/1900MHz and 900/2100 Mhz).

5) Input methods

Nokia 1 - Apple 1

Your finger for the iphone, finger, stylus or plectrum for the Nokia. , many will definitely like having more available options. Here it’s only a metter of personal tastes. Unlike the iPhone, Nokia provides you with a traditional stylus - handwriting, much common to Windows mobile and Palm users.

6) Battery life

Nokia 1 - Apple 0

Daily usage with each of these phones is a different thing, of course, but according to the technical specifications, the Nokia 5800 is overall better either for voice, data and standby (about 15 to 30% more). In addition, Nokia claims up to 35h of music time against 24h of the Apple iPhone.

7) Camera

Nokia 1 - Apple 0

The Nokia is provided with a 3.2Mpix camera with Carl Zeiss Optics and dual flash. On the contrary, the iPhone mounts a very basic 2Mpix camera, no flash, no carl zeiss, far behind the Nokia’s one despite it is certainly not the top as the one mounted in the N95.

8) Video Recording

Nokia 1 - Apple 0

No native iPhone video recording yet, even if the iPhone is capable of playing various video formats. Services lik Qik works on jailbroken iPhones while it is pre installed in any Nokia 5800 phone. In addition you can record videos with the standard Nokia application and make video calls, something not yet possible on the iphone.

9) UI

Nokia 1 - Apple 1

Hard fight here. The iPhone UI is definitely cool and any customer loves it. The Nokia’s one is promising, with the new contact and multimedia bar (familiar to N-series owners) but not having tried it yet, I cannot say more. What I bet is that Nokia’s interface will be much better in terms of basic features still missing on the iPhone, like the much requested cut & paste or a much better bluetooth integration, with the ability to send all kind of multimedia files trough bluetooth. I would say it’s a draw at this moment.

10) Music

Nokia 1 - Apple 1

To me, another draw here. Nokia is pushing this phone as a music phone tightly integrated with their new online music store. In addition, any XpressMusic phone will come with one year subscription which lets you download unlimited songs (with DRM). The winner? iTunes is certainly a big one to fight but Nokia is the #1 in the mobile phone market, that means a preferred way to push their services to customers and, with that package, easier to make them prefer their store over iTunes.

Nokia 5800 wins

^^I'm not going to argue with you because I like you :)

That post is eligible for Post of the day if not Post of the month :)

And i am totally with Tracerbullet on iphone vs the tube...

Even though i myself will pick up the tube over iphone but for alltogather different reasones...

Not the price tag mind you guys but the commitment which you have to do with the service provider. Had the 3g been hacked liked the older one i would have picked up the iphone long back...

Here is what i dont like in the tube...

The looks

The fattyness

The looks

Double clicks/Touch

Loads of buttons(its a touch screen for gods sake)

The looks

And finally the looks yet again

Having said that when is it coming out cause i will pick up one on the day of its release :P...

@ h@ker :

I'm no fanboi and I prefer my windows PC to a Mac anytime :P

my views were based on the videos and I clearly mentioned that in the post, besides you dont need to have the phone in hand to know that you need to hard tap the screen insted of touch , also at places you need to double click and sometimes you may need to use the stylus, which isn't very convienient when you are lookin for single handed operations.

It's a good vfm phone but please dont compare it to the iphone

@Lord Nemesis :

Apple didnt force anyone to upgrade to iphone 3g in order to have the benifits of the ver.2 fw ... the orignal iphone users could also upgrade to version 2

And for the thickness it because it has superior speakers compared to the lame speaker of the iphone

As i had said , these are the things that make the iPhone great. And even i would have loved to have a iphone. But maybe not at its price point. The price point(speculative) is what will decide the Tubes fate.

@Switch : cant you find some unlocked one in grey ?? If you're lookin for one with warranty maybe you could source one with bill from hongkong where they are sold unlocked .... I guess apple should honour the warranty in India since they are officially available here, though not entirely sure
