Hi,

I have recently purchased an nokia Bl-5c battery for my dad's phone. The description says its genuine and is seal packed.

I received it in the same packing mentioned in the display image with vat paid bill and I sent out an email to nokia asking is my battery genuine as i do not have the hologram on it.

I got a reply from Nokia that it is NOT genuine and they said that the new series batteries do not have the Holograms.

Contacted the seller, he says that according to his distributor, few of the battery numbers are not updated with NOKIA site.

Now do I have trust that guy? or should I return it back? the seller has 98% +ve rating and sold over 100 items, most of them are nokia products.

Please suggest me where can I check whether it is genuine

Hi,

This info seems to be contradicting. If the battery you purchased does NOT have a hologram and if Nokia says new batteries do NOT have hologram then what is the issue?
Did you try sending the battery no to Nokia and get it confirmed?
Also your invoice should have that mentioned. If not how will you claim the warranty on that battery.
Incase if your invoice does not have the battery no mentioned request the seller to send one. If the seller refuses or Nokia says that the battery no you sent is not genuine raise it on email with Ebay and they shall help you using the Ebay buyer protection guarantee they have.
You can find the battery no on the battery also.

Sorry for the confusion. The battery did have a serial number and the Nokia CC guy confirmed it is not genuine, looking at the serial number I mentioned in the email.

The vat paid bill given by seller did have the sl-no on it.

If you confirmed this with Nokia over email you can forward the same to ebay and the dealer asking for refund.
Then its the seller's headache to follow up with nokia or to refund you in that case.
But are you going to check every battery that you buy with Nokia to confirm if its genuine? I bought a Nokia battery for my N73 from a local shop few years back. He gave me an original invoice but charged me Rs80/- extra after I asked for the bill. I happily paid it and the battery is still working fine. If it had not then atleast I had the proper invoice to support my case. And following up in person is much better than following up online. I suggest you buy acces. locally rather than online. And if the online deal is too good to resist then it could very well be a fake one :)

I forwarded the email and the reply was
according to the distributor from whom he purchased the item, few of the battery numbers are not updated with NOKIA site.

Then its for you to decide. Can you trust the seller? If not go for a refund. And if Nokia is selling the product how is it possible that these serial no are not registered with Nokia themselves?? :scared14:
If you are doubtful why not source it locally... Atleast you have a neck to hold if anything goes wrong :D

actually, the battery mrp is about 330/- got it for about 150 with coupons. So in a dilemma whether to send back or use.

BTW, I have marked item as received, but not given feedback yet.

I bought a couple of Nokia batteries from Flipkart and none of them have a hologram. Nokia batteries are sealed packed, but they don't come with hologram anymore.

I don't think this is an issue. I suggest you visit the nearest Nokia care center to verify the authenticity of the battery which you have received.
