A new Series 40-powered feature phone, the Nokia C2-03. Combining Dual-SIM functionality with Touch and Type technology, this new phone is perfect for people who want to combine their separate needs into one single device.

The Nokia C2-03 is Nokia’s third Touch and Type phone and first such form factor to feature Dual-SIM. Up until now, Dual-SIM phones needed to be switched off and the battery removed, so that the SIM card could be inserted. Not now.

The Easy Swap feature allows you to open the slot on the side of the phone and simply insert your new SIM, with no need to reboot.

Should you have more than two SIM cards, the Nokia C2-03 is capable of remembering the settings for up to five separate cards. So once you’ve personalised your SIM by giving it its own name and calling settings, you’ll never have to do it again.

I really dont get why Nokia does not develop dual sim dual standby phones when even the chinese rebranded (read micromax, spice, intex etc etc) can do that conveniently.

Chinese must be having some copyright on dual / triple / quad sim ?
 
I might be wrong, but i remember somebody telling me that Dual-sim phones consume twice the battery, can that be the reason?

Because this phone might sell more units than the N9? I don't see a problem here. Btw was it explicitly mentioned somewhere that the N9 wouldn't be retailing in India?

Reliability and build quality wise, I suppose a Nokia would surpass those Chinese rebranded cellphones. Not to mention the trust Indians have on Nokia over other relatively newer brands.
 
^^Thats what, make a reliable and good quality phone with dual sim dual standby and you can take the market share of those micromax, zen, spice too right.

Yep that is precisely what Nokia is targeting. :)

We had those Chinese fakes first, then Micromax, Spice, Intex, Lava etc. made it into the scene. Nokia decided to make their move with the first dual sim phone launched last year - C2-00. This is their next iteration.
 
Nokia has seriously been delivered a double whammy.

The top end customers have been swayed away by the likes of Android based and the iphones, the basic models been upstaged by the likes of Micromax and the Spice brands.

This seems more like the act of awakening and i am kinda glad they are coming with these phones.

This is a dual standby phone. Btw still only Samsung makes the dual sim phones(Duos Series) in which even if you are talking in one sim...if u receive a call on 2nd sim..it will come in waiting instead of unreachable as in Micromax/Spice. Not sure if this Nokia will also work the Samsung way
 
^^ . That's called as Dual Active Mode - Allowing you to switch between calls.

The one which gives unreachable msg is the Dual Std By Mode.

So the C2-02 and C2-03 are available in India. That's pretty fast by Nokia standard these days.

They are both touch and touch slider phones with a largish 2.6" screen and runs S40 OS. Specs are similar expect that the C2-03 is a dual SIM phone. I would say its pretty decent pricing :)
