HTC may face a lausuit against their flagship Windows Phone 8X from Nokia .

Nokia is allegedly preparing to launch a patent dispute against HTC 8X claiming that the design of the HTC 8X's front panel is similar to its Lumia 820 , reports PC-Tablet.com . It says ,

"The reports are saying Nokia is preparing to get HTC 8X banned in various parts of the world from going on sale when it will launch in November. Nokia has said in reports that the front-face of HTC 8X looks identically same as of the Lumia 820 followed by side-curves of the phone body."

Nokia's EVP of Nokia Sales and Marketing, Chris Weber, tweeted after HTC unveiled its WP8 devices , "It takes more than matching color to match the innovation of the Lumia 920."

Here we go again....Apple seems to have injected the lawsuit thing in other companies.
But yes they do look same.

well, gsmarena says
No matter what Nokia’s intentions are, both Nokia and HTC have huge support from Microsoft (and Qualcomm), and we bet the issue will be resolved without entering the court room.

I guess, it'd be better for both not to drag this to court.

The designs look very similar and is a big departure from the previous HTC phones, hopefully the case can be resolved with some licensing agreements instead of device bans.

I don't know if this is a real issue on Nokia's minds but right now they will avoid getting into legal hassles.

Another thing which comes into mind is that it might be a smart ploy by Microsoft (after taking Nokia and HTC into confidence) to keep a similar look for all Windows 8 Phones - just as a sign of differentiating them from the other run-of-the-mill phones. Come to think of it, it would be a very smart move. Make scratch resistant polycarbonate bodies with wild colors, they can probably cut down on their advertising budget. The person using this would stand out from the rest by himself! :)

EDIT: Looking at this, I don't think they have any plans to sue HTC

He clearly says that the competition is not amongst Windows but rather with Android and iOS.

Man, Stephen Elop speaks brilliantly.. watched 2 interviews of him and my opinion of him has changed completely.

First of all NOKIA has no value in current market..... Now NOKIA just want to make publicity by doing LAWSUITS against HTC

since when suing other companies gave some one good PR?AFAIK apple only dips lower in people's eyes each time it sues(which are a lot of times).

Why would Nokia agree to something like this? They have bet their entire company on Windows Phone, whereas for HTC, its just one part of their overall lineup.

Where are you getting that from?

WP8 will be do or die for Nokia, if it fails they are doomed. I hope it doesn't though, so that Google and Android don't get too complacent.

Your original statement: "First of all NOKIA has no value in current market"

As of 2012 it is the world's second-largest mobile phone maker by unit sales (after Samsung), with a global market share of 22.5 percent; in the first quarter.
It is the world's 143rd-largest company measured by 2011 revenues according to the Fortune Global 500.

That was a statement of @divyesh2129 which was totally wrong. People still love Nokia for their Hardware and STRONG navigation system. :-) I can only hope that they will come back with a bang in mobile industry.

Umm, there are many reasons why Nokia might have agreed to this - don't underestimate the convincing powers of MS.

You are looking from the incorrect viewpoint i.e. HTC. Look at this from MS's viewpoint. They want to make a name for themselves. Even after having good hardware, it is extremely important to have a distinctive image in the market.

iPhones have their jewels-like-oh-so-good looks, Android phones tout the high-end hardware with large screens. But, in case of MS, brightly colored polycarbonate bodies clearly separates them from the herd. I have seen many podcasts (verge, engadget etc.) where even the editors who are die-hard Apple/Android fans lap praise upon praise for the new approach in hardware design. I, for one, think it is a very clever marketing strategy. Majority of the users don't really care about the 100-things-missing-in-each-OS list and want something that works and looks good.

However, we don't really have to speculate. If Nokia files a suit, end of discussion. You were right. There is nothing stopping them, right? The designs are too close to Nokia's Lumia to be a coincidence. It would be a believable lawsuit unlike the Apple vs Samsung one. :P

As far as Lumia 920 and 820 go, it will be do or die for Nokia for sure. They have bet the farm on this. I really hope they don't let this good initial response and hype go to their head and price it right. I really, really want Nokia to succeed. Don't envy Stephen Elop right now - the last chance for him to salvage himself.
