Nokia MicroSD Memory locked, I seem to have forgotten the password. And worst, it has some important data.

so, what to do now?

There is hardly anything you can do now. Formatting is the only option; but then you lose the data. :(

You cant even format the card in windows or any os unless it is password unlocked.

If you are a nokia symbian user try following steps:

Install fexplorer. Open it

Browse to c:\system\ directory in your cell.

You will get a file named mmcstore this file is used for storing data related to your (MMC)-Memory card.

Open it with the inbuilt hex editor and scroll down until you find your password.

This works for some old gen symbian devices (6600) etc, but not working for the later S60 v3 devices, you can remove the password but only by formatting it with some Nokia handset (N76) and some more, but you cant remove the password

in case you need to format the card, put it in a S60v3/v5 phone & format it via LCG X-plore, card gets formatted easily & i have tested it personally on 2 Micro sd cards, though data recovery cant be guaranteed by this method

Guys, I don't want to format the card, as I have some important data in it. So please suggest me something

this app not support on my Phone, does not install. My Phone is Nokia 5800, memory card format is MicroSD which has been locked and I have forgotten the password

Did you try 'remembering' the password??

I feel that remembering the password is the only way out unless you don't mind losing the data by formatting.

Since someone mentioned the hex method, i suggest you try procuring a old nokia symbian handset like 6600 from someone and get it sorted. In that case i suppose you will need a MMC adapter for the the MicroSD card.

Which App should I use to format the card?

I can't find nokia 6600 so I have decided to format the card:(.

And then maybe try to recover data using recovery software like PhotoRec - CGSecurity or Data Recovery Software Products - Runtime Software Products

Guys, I want to format the card. Please guide. Xplore app is not working. It does not show option to format:no:

^^ I suggest try more before giving up and formatting. You never know you might stumble upon a solution.
I have search a lot, seems there is no clear solution to unlock the micro sd card:|

I faced this exact same problem with one of my friends memory cards. She had an S40 7210 and after flashing a fresh firmware, the memory card locked down and no matter what I tried, I couldn't crack it. Afaik, procuring an old handset is pointless as the password file -which was supposedly a loop hole- can only be created by an old phone . I.e. if the password was first set on the 5800XM, there would be no such password file if you put it in the an old 6600.

If its got important data, just keep on guessing and guessing. Thats what opened her card in the end ... girls I tell you :P
