Nokia has slashed prices of its cellphones across its portfolio this week, with the deepest cuts of around 10 percent seen for some smartphone models, data seen by Reuters showed on Thursday.

Nokia is struggling to battle with new rivals Apple and Research in Motion at the high end of the cellphone market, and sees a cheaper price as its strongest weapon to hold on to market share, analysts said. The company has also delayed the renewal of its Symbian software -- seen as crucial to improve its position in the high-end of the market -- to the second half of the year from second quarter, two sources with direct knowledge of the delay told Reuters. Rumours of the possible delay have made the rounds for days and analysts see this hurting Nokia's outlook for the second quarter. A Nokia spokesman declined to comment on price cuts and software delay ahead of January-March earnings due at 1000 GMT. Nokia has previously said price changes are part of its normal, ongoing business. The world's top cellphone maker usually cuts prices across its portfolio a few times each year. The deepest price cuts were seen in some of Nokia's E-series models as the firm makes room in its portfolio for new, cheaper models to roll out in coming months.

any clues what will be the pricing for NOKIA C6 ????

i m very eager to get that but my budget is stopping me :(

it might say apple but are they cheaper???..nope

Reason is karbon, max ,videocon and others have come up with mobiles cheaper than nokia and more features...and they loosing ground

As long as Nokia sticks to Symbian OS, they will lose market share. With Android and now upcoming Win 7, get us a new OS with loads of apps or cut the price of over priced models(rely on more volumes). Especially E-series, I was extremely disappointed with E72, there was nothing exceptional for that price.

Yup just posted in the other thread.

Prices have dipped in univercell

Nokia 5233 - 6.7k (VAT inclusive)

Nokia 5230 - 7.6k (VAT inclusive)

These phones were Rs.500-700 dearer last week.

Hope now the Corby S3653 price dips to 5.5-6k pretty soon due to this price cut from Nokia ;)

Dont these local mobs have pathetic UI? Also will they last a good 3-4 years? My Nokia 6030 lasted a good 3 years of abuse and still serving as a backup phone.

Also what about the radiation level etc.. in these brands like Maxx, Karbonn, Videocon etc...?

Untrue...Symbian has a lot of potential, I do not understand what you were looking for in your E72, Lets us wait for Symbian^3.

Android 1.6 had its own set of problems though 2.1 has solved most of them.

@h20

what is the difference and new features in symbian^3 [is it v5 with a new name :D] ???????

and any guess on the pricing of nokia C6 ??????

Agree, using Symbian based phones since ages, but then at times these phones dont have those 'wow' moments, which the current crop of phones give, especially UI.

As an novice end user who uses a new E series phone it expects something different but alas there is nothing 'exceptional'.

Waiting for Symbian^3, I hope list of apps/support is same(or more) than Android/iphone.

PS: I didnt buy E-72 just borrowed one from one friend to try out. The last phone which I purchased was 1202 and 5800 XM before that, 5800 turned out to a better experience than E-72(I know I am comparing oranges and apples, but as I said novice end user it was disappointing)

Glad to know that, waiting for affordable 2.1 phone as my next buy.

Yes they do have pathetic UI the problem is that instead of designing something simple they try to copy Sense UI/Win MO/Apple/Symbian/BB and end up making a mess of things.
Radiation levels thats a good point you have brought up will be doing some googling on it.
Yes, the abuse Nokia (especially Nokia) pieces can endure is worth noting. My Nokia 7500 Prism has gone 2.5 years and still using it.

The thing what I have noticed on E-Series phones is that they slowly but surely grow on you my Dad recently got an E71 and I don't think he can now shift back. Receiving all your mails, Looking at your Docs, and especially QWERTY. But, then again I must agree with your that the looks are a bit crippled especially when compared to Sense UI.

Nokia E series especially E-71 prices were quite on higher side-
can some one post the real life street price of E-71 and E-72 after reduction now ?
