Nokia N900 review: A new hope It's crystal clear by now that the Nokia N900 has almost nothing to do with the traditional Nseries values. The full QWERTY side-slider may look similar to its double-digit mates but the Maemo experience is completely different. However, the N900 is not there for the mere sake of difference - a tablet and a phone, it tries to get the best of both worlds. These are worlds though where Nokia feels at home.Nokia N900 official photosThe internet tablet genes are strong in the Nokia N900 so connectivity and web-browsing are its greatest virtues. The large high-res display and great typing skills are the right kind of backup but we've seen plenty of similar packages already. We told youthough - the N900 is different. It's a Maemo-powered phone with Mozilla browsing and all-you-can-eat connectivity. Call it goodnews, call it a good start or just call it good. Let's see if it calls back.

I will try to play with it this Sunday at Regent St. in London (Nokia Store) :D will play with iPhone 3GS too in the Apple store next door ...

Main disadvantages

* Large and heavy

* UI only works in landscape mode (for now)

* No smart and voice dialing

* Outdated camera interface and features

* No preinstalled voice-guided SatNav application

* No voice recorder, no MMS, and no handwriting recognition

* No FM radio application (despite that the hardware's there)

* Limited third-party software availabilty

check the ones Highlighted in red.Although,it can be fixed with firmware update but they should be there by default. I think its stupidity on nokia part to leave out applications and go ahead release. because its their Flagship product catering to HighEnd segment.

I asked the Nokia store guy at Connaught Place, New Delhi today and he said that India launch will be in early 2010. LOL

@gforce

I won't be getting this one mate. I'll have to stick with Verizon, so its the DROID for me. I don't know whether that is good or bad, or even a blessing in disguise. LOL

All the best for your purchase, and congratulations too. Don't forget to make us all go green with envy and do post your views.

@Hemant

It hasn't been launched in India as yet. If and when it is eventually launched, it will cost upwards of Rs.30000/-, probably around the 35k mark.

Nokia USA website listed it at $649 excluding state taxes. On the other hand, various online sellers like Amazon, Buy.com, Dell listed it at varying prices, ranging from $449.99 to $599.99. They are still offering it for pre-order at about the same rates or there abouts.
