50 years ago, on 11th August 1957, a jewel was born. Now after 50 years the smaller jewel presents the bigger jewel a beauty, the beauty which has been carved specially by the angels. The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold Edition.
Yes guys, finally the day has come. The day i've been waiting for. And as promised i am writing this review for all of u.
Have a pleasant time reading it
[BREAK=Introduction]
Ever wondered what Sirroco means??
Sirocco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sirocco, scirocco, jugo or, rarely, siroc is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and reaches hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe.
Nokia 8800 needs no introduction. Its one of the Nokia's flagship model. Its a masterpiece. Coated with 18 carat gold plating, it looks like its brought straight out from a gold mine. And about the features, Nokia has made absolutely sure that they include the best available today.
[BREAK=In the box]
The box included the following things:
1. Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition phone
2. Nokia Battery BP-6X (2 pieces)
3. Nokia Compact Charger AC-3
4. Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-801
5. Nokia Headset HS-15
6. Nokia Desk Stand DT-16
7. Nokia Carrying Pouch CP-104
8. CD-ROM and Manual
9. Suede cleaning cloth
I was just stunned when I opened the box. Such neat packaging!! The black coloured box was of top notch quality. It was held by a clip like thing which had Nokia Sirocco edition embossed on it. On opening it,I got to see the beauty inside. What a feeling it was. I felt like King Midas. The one who wished that whatever he touched, it shud turned to gold. There was also a small booklet which gave an idea how previleged u've become after purchasing this phone
The one thing which surprised me was the inclusion of two batteries. Nokia 8800 had a problem of short battery life. So, I guess Nokia decided to give Two batteries along so that u can be connected all the time.
[BREAK=The Phone]
The build quality of this phone is just awesome. For the first time in my life, I'd appreciate the Nokia guys for this.
It has a plating of 18 carat gold. Nonetheless it feels like u r holding a gold biscuit in ur hand. But every good thing has its disadvantages. You have to keep the body really clean all the time. Fingerprints appear immediately on the cover.
Regarding the Sliding mechanism, well, Nokia has used ball bearings for it, the same ball bearings that have been specially crafted for use in high performance cars. It is one of the best sliding mechanism I have seen ever. even my N80 cannot match it.
When closed, the only things you are able to see are the two buttons that are used to accept and reject the calls. There are no other keys available. not even the side keys. So, the only operation you can do with lid closed is answer and reject the calls. You can't even access the menu.
The screen is made up of a scratch-resistant sapphire-coated glass. So you can be pretty sure that you won't have any scratches on the beauty.
The phone boasts an internal memory of 128 MB, which is pretty good.
[BREAK=Display, Audio]
The Sirocco displays 262K colours.Since it is of smaller size, 208x208 pixels, the display is crisp and sharp.
Regarding the camera, it is 2mpix. The pictures taken by it look good too. But neways, someone won't purchase this phone for taking pictures, isn't it??
8800 has a S40 system installed. It is not a symbian one. But that means this phone is considerably faster. And most of all, No virus problems.
The themes included are also cool. There are about 9 pre-installed themes.
Audio:
This phone is not supposed to be used as an MP3 player. So, you might think that the sounds used in it must be of really poor quality. But thats not the case. The tones for 8800 have been written by renowned composer and innovator of ambient music, Brian Eno. The tones sound really good.
The bluetooth headset included BH-801, is also top notch quality. It is made so that it would match the versatility of 8800.
The headset too is in golden colour.
[BREAK=Games]
You guys must be thinking there must be no games in 8800. But this time too u r wrong. 8800 offers some of the best games.
The list includes
1. Golf tour: It is a really cool 3D game.
2. Snake 3 : I guess everyone knows it.
3. Chess.
4. Solitaire.
[BREAK=Conclusion]
Finally, Nokia has created a masterpiece. The 8800 truely lives upto its promises. It justifies the reasons why it is so costly. It makes u stand apart.
And again, I am not regretting my decision of buying it and gifting it to my dad.
Thanks for your valuable time u spent in reading this review.
