How can i fix this problm........pls help me....

I know of one virus that does this, look online or a tutorial to spot powerpoint.exe virus.
The virus disables hidden files option. There are registery hacks to re-enable the hidden files option.

HEREZ THE SOLUTION

You need to make some changes to the registry for solving this:

The total procedure is given below. You may do it manually or use the following registry entry. Try the registry entry and then use the manual method only if the registry entry file doesn't work.

Instructions:

Double Click on the following file after downloading (1KB). It will ask for confirmation. CLick OK. and on the dialogue box then appear, click OK. Now Reboot/Logoff->Login and check the options in the folder options. It must be working now..

(If it doesn't work, you can manually edit the registry as follows. I dont recommend editing the registry if you're not familiar wid it.)

So, first try this following file and then inform me heere abt th rslts and then we'll proceed..

http://www.aravindjose.com/reg/hidden.reg

MANUAL METHOD (Be Cautious while modifying registry)

Go to the following registry key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

DELETE the value CheckedValue in the right window. (Its type should be REG_SZ and data should be 2.)

Now create a new DWORD value called CheckedValue (same as above, except that the type is REG_DWORD). Modify the value data to 1 (0x00000001).

This should let you change the "Hidden Files and Folders" option.

Please report your results.

Inform what u've done..

if aravindian's solution does not work, you might have a virus, i had the same problem wiht hacktool.rootkit, i even put up my solution in the "Securtiy Solutions" zone. Just tell me 2 things, what is ur AV and what happens when you double click a partition

U think thats a virus, watch this i have no option selected on my folder option
window... Whatever i select i gets applied but when i re-open the folder option it shows me the same........... ;) [Its not a virus just some tweaks] ...

And have u unchecked the box in folder options which say
"Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended)"

guys this is heap41 virus.. search online how to fix it.. you should do some registry tweaks..Kaspersky clears the virus but doesn't fix the prob..

You might also have prob opening Firefox... try

if you have linux, mount your C:, search for heap41 folder and delete it..Else some error message keeps popping even if you clean it from kaspersky.. Hope this helps.

^^removes all restrictions like regedit, task manager folder options n all common tasks tht virus disables...

GO to Start --> RUN --> Type "CMD"
locate the folder by using the "CD" command....
If u do not know how to change directories using "CD" command then...

Type the above without quotation marks.........

Open the folder in windows explorer say for eg. your files are located in the system32 folder... So when u open the system32 folder the address bar will show as following c:\window\system32....

Now that u have the path copy, open the command prompt type

CD "C:\Windows\sytem32"

Note that i have inserted quotation marks before the c: and at the end its important to put the quotation marks or else the folder won't be opened in command prompt if the name of the folder is more than 8 characters....

Once in the folder type "dir /ah" [without quotation marks ]...

And u can see the files. Once u have name of the file for eg.
"tech.doc"

type the following
attrib -a -h -r -s tech.doc

done now you should be able to see your files...
If u are not getting it let me know.........

Sorry, it not heap41a virus.

heap41a is one which doesnt allow users to view orkut.com, gmail.com and youtube.com and even FF..

Itz been reported many times and i personally had attended 6 or 7 cases..

If you ever been attacked by this, follow the steps...

go to my computer> Type C:\heap41a\ in the addres bar > ENTER

(itz better if you have hidden files viewing enabled).

DELETE ALL FILES IN THAT FOLDER AND THEN DELETE THAT FOLDER TOO..

One file may not get deleted.. dont worry..leave it and restart the computer..

You will see a dialogue box sayin' that a particualr file was modified/corrupetd and whether u want to recreate it/...

SELECT NO..

then now it shud be fine...
