tried googling it but couldnt find a solution
tried http://faqshop.com/sus/suserrs/automatic%20update%20err%20codes.htm]FAQShop.com: Welcome to the SUS Section[/url]
but to no avail.
generally this error comes when u r upgrading os and antivirus doesnt give proper permissions but i am booting from cd .
tried burning new cd at slower speeds but same prob
tried even with pendrive but there i got stuck where u select the partiton
now the only thing left is that the image dwnlded from ms has some probs ??
I have Inspiron 1501

if you can, try to verify the MD5 or SHA1 checksum:

my working x64 ISO file has the following checksums, or you can try searching online:

MD5: 773fc9cc60338c612af716a2a14f177d

SHA1: e09fdbc1cb3a92cf6cc872040fdaf65553ab62a5

edit:

2 more things to check:

no bad sectors on HDD?

any "virus protection" enabled in BIOS which prevents MBR access (but i doubt this)

no bad sectors

no virus protection in BIOS

have been installing vista x64 no probs there

will check the checksums

Uninstall your antivirus, install Windows 7, and install your antivirus again.

antivirus uninstalled tried not working

will have to dwnload again

thanks guys for imdt help

Dont download the whole thing again. If you still have the ISO saved, then just point a torrent to that very iso and do a force recheck over that iso.

Exactly ... !! I downloaded a copy via a MS Link via Free Download Manager... Burnt the ISO, but while installing it got the same error the author got, so looked up a torrent site downloaded a tracker did a check and found a massive 250mb chunk missing ... :hap2: gonna get that completed tonight :cool2:

Hi
Try these suggestions;

1. Do make a md5 / sha1 code checks on the downloaded win7_iso images. win7_x64_iso image codes are given in the thread above by vishalrao :)

2. bootable images are very tricky to write to DVDs. use to slowest possible speed and do turn on the verify option at the end of write process.

3. or since you have vista x64 already installed, why not extract the iso image to a directory with winrar and run setup. You'll be able to install win7_x64 if iso is ok and not corrupt.

:)
