Not able to set Airtel 3G on HTC One V

Even after trying 3-4 times setting up the manual settings with airtel customer care I am not getting 3g speed/connection. I have logged in a complaint with airtel and they have assured me that it will be fine in couple of days.

Does anyone have idea what could be wrong? network mode is selected to wcdma/gsm auto. But I always get 'E' instead of 'H' or '3G' symbol for network.
 
Not really of any help, but when I turn on my Airtel 3G at Kalkaji, it shows 'E'. But when I go home, it shows H+ and gives me 3G speed. I'm not certain how mobile 3G networks work, but just something I noticed with my handset.
Are you having problems at all locations?
 
try switching off and on the mobile after setting up 3g. Also, check if you are facing the issue everywhere or is it just your place.
