Notebook on non-proxy connection - sites still blocked!

I am using my office notebook at home as my home PC has conked off (details in this thread). Now the problem is that even though I am using a direct MTNL connection I still get my office's site blocked message when I try to download certain sharewares, etc.

IP: 192.168.1.x
Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (router)

The tracert data goes directly through MTNL (see below)

What is the solution to this one? The company does not have any other software except the antivirus and Symantec Protection Agent 5.1 installed. I tried disabling both but to no avail.
 
ur comp. admins might have made some group policy entries

are u loggin into ur comp domain or local, Try creating a user in local domain and then try
 
Oh - Unfortunately I have to run a lot of my other stuff too (mails + office software) and hence need to use this comp domain. Thanks mate.
 
What's happening is that you probably have a VPN dialer or something that dials up and connects to your office network when you connect to the internet via your MTNL connection. So all your traffic is actually getting routed via your office network, hence all the policies would be in affect. If you have the option, try not to connect via the VPN connection. Should let you have unrestricted access. Also, as pcgamer suggested, there may be domain policies active on your laptop. Make friends with your IT guys at work and have them create a local user for you!! ;)
 
It is definitely group policies. I am definitely not using the VPN dialer (look at the tracert). Anyways, thanks for the info.

Actually there is a way to disable group policies via the registry but I don't want to mess up my office lappie. It may get me blacklisted :)
