Graphic Cards nVIDIA 6600Gt Power Warning Message

Beginner
I got a replacement XFX 6600GT (PCI-E) (after like 8 months) and also bought a brand new PSU (Powersafe 500W) to support it. Installed the latest chipset drivers (Version: 6.86) and latest display drivers (version: 91.47). Now, I get this warning message when I play games (have only tried Halo so far)

My config:
Athlon64 3200+
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
1GB RAM
Philips 109B6 monitor (19'')
HDD's - Seagate SATA 80GB x2

Any ideas why?

have u connected all the connectors on the mobo properly .....

is that PSU is 24 pin or 20 pin ...... try plugging the molex connector on the board (i know its only for SLi but try it ...)

Its a 24 pin connector though its split in 20+4 config. Not using any external connector or converter. Is it safe to plug in the molex on the board in single card mode?

I spoke too soon!

Just got that message again, this time while playing Prey. The Powersafe 500W gives 18A on the 12V rail. I have 2 SATA HDD's (not RAID'ed) and 1 DVD writer along with 2 USB devices.

Looks like the psu is busted... get it changed. I had an x800xt on a powersafe (my bro still uses it) and that runs fine. So no reason why a puny 6600gt won't work.

try using a diff psu even a normal colorsit sud run for a day atleast it wont give u messege.
so check with tht if psosible a 450 watts model of colorsit if no messeges busted psu :) affirmative!.

If it's a new PSU, I doubt that could be the problem. But do check it out with another PSU just to be sure. Could be a rare incident that you got a new unit that's not up to the mark.

Are all your games working fine with your card at least?

I got this post by one Falcon in nVIDIA Forums -

Some recent drivers, i.e. 78 and above, report (with a recurring pop up message) that there is not enough power to run the card. with the pop up comes comes a drastic reduction in memory speed, which Rivatuner does not override . I've been using my card for 11 months now and it is only with the updated drivers that I got this message. A fix that I have come up with, is to reboot, disable most of your memory resident programs, and replay the game. This problem is in the driver not the amount of power system actually has (unless you really do not have enough power).

or else, try version 78.05 released on 26/09/2005, after uninstalling your present driver & running Driver Cleaner Pro.

Am using Forceware version 66.93 on my eVGA 6600GT 128MB AGP 8X on an ANTEC SP Ver2 350 W psu (15A on +12V1 & 10A on +12V2 Rails), with no recurring power pop ups, which I used to get when i used the 78 series drivers.

Hey man im also having the same kind of problems.the message comes when i start some games and then fps is also dropping drastically..

but maybe my problem is with the psu coz my psu is not all tht gud..and i had to install the newest drivers to make prey work..
