Some information on G70
THERE IS little enough information available on Nvidia's next generation G70 chip but we managed to dig out some more nuggets. We wrote before that the G70 is taped out and that Nvidia is happy with it. But it is still keeping its partners under the impression that all is fine even though ATI has some multi rendering and R520 horses ready for the race.

We learned that G70 is going to use single slot cooling and that it won't get very hot. It turns out that Nvidia might have early cards even today. It definitely managed to get further then we expected. Remember, Nvidia changed its plans and cancelled some of its chips including NV50 in favour of G70. All bets are on the G70 now.

We learned that G70 won't have any special power requirements and that Nvidia is confident that this is it and that it can give the R520 equine quadruped a run for its money with the G70. That's something that we will just have to wait and see, of course.

2 words, its INQUIRER. How can we trust em ;)
They like to post all masala stories.
Anyway it dosent matter that much to the high end user if its single slot or dual slot design. The value/mainstream products should be single slot.

I think its fairly well known that the G70 will be a very powerful chip and the performance difference between it and the 6800U will be 2-3x at the very least.
So even the 6600 may not be a good future-proof choice 2day coz a G70 based mainstream part may outpace it by several times.

^^ You yet never know, let them come out, it will take atleast a year before the next generation mid range chips roll out. And yes 6600 GT will get cloberred if not by the next generation chips then atleast by X800 or even X800XL which price is decreasing big time.

dude what is the cost of x800 in india?

also, mid range cards should be out by late this year max , shouldn't they, though that time they may cost higher

should i go for geofrce 6600gt then,i won't be able to upgrade for 2 yrs

Yup....never know until the cards come out......
Also not sure about how many pipes thr gonna carry nd real specs??

so its really too early to make out nythng

only a head to head comparison will show ;)
