Well I was I think one of the "victims" of this Nvidia defective GPU in notebooks from various manufacturers(mainly HP and also Dell,Apple)

This caused me to spend over 17k for my mainboard repairs. This issue was experienced by a lot of people around the globe. Now as reported By major tech sites, a class action has been formed, where depending on model of your defective notebook Nvidia will either replace the notebook or reimburse you for the repair costs.
The webpage for the class action is The NVIDIA GPU Litigation - Home Page

What I want to know is Can Indians be part of litigation in US?
Morever Is there any similar litigation in India?
Are there any members here who have incurred heavy repair costs on their Laptops due to replacements of display, mainboards?:@:@

Pardon me for my noobishness!

Rather unfortunately, Indians cannot be a part of the litigation :(

Most manufacturers did offer free repair for this problem though, no?

My Dell was under those defective gpu list, but thankfully after 3 motherboard replacements the issue didn't reoccur under the 1 year warranty. It was hell of a pain for first 1 year of the lappy purchase. There was a extended warranty offered by dell for this issue alone. Not sure of other manufactures.

"22. What do I do if I want to make a Replacement Claim but my affected computer and I are currently located outside of the United States?

If you are eligible to file a claim and you purchased the affected computer in the United States, but now reside outside the United States and require international shipping, please call the Settlement Administrator at 1-877-440-7557 to discuss your options. Owing to international customs regulations, tax and import duties, and other logistical difficulties, in many cases we may not be able to coordinate shipments to and from foreign countries (including Canada). If you are able to provide a US-based address for yourself or a relative or friend who can accept a return shipment on your behalf, please do so. Also, please keep in mind that computers cannot be shipped to PO Boxes or military APO addresses, even within the United States."

Try your luck at the consumer courts? Just file a case. Don't care about the result. I'm pretty sure you don't have to run around here or there. I still haven't had the opportunity to test it out =)

I'm no law student, but 2 democratic countries will usually have the same principles regarding general topics such as these. So if it applies in one country it should generally be applicable for the other as well.

I got my laptop from USA. Mine is an HP DV9429US and matches the exact serial no. in the list given. I have NEVER had any of the mentioned issues with the laptop though.

Does that mean I am eligible for a replacement?

I can even send my laptop to USA but what will they replace it with? If it's some Compaq crap or some Acer Netbook, then definitely not!!!

^^If you dont have an issue with it why will they replace it? Im assuming they will test it before doing anything. In that case you'll just be wasting you're money. But if they dont..well you could get a brand new laptop! Replacement will probably have to be an hp, how can they replace with another brand? :S
