Graphic Cards Nvidia Introduces SLI 16x

Nvidia Introduces SLI 16x

The new chipset will allow you to use two graphics cards, but with 16 PCI Exprss lanes for each card. Before the release of this, it would only be 8 lanes per video card in SLI. Problem is, that was enough for the video cards to function fine. The addition of 16lanes probably won't do very much performance wise.

^^ So very true, still dunno why Intel got the *GREAT* PCIe idea, and now they don't even have a decent mobo with PCIe (I'm referring to the 915 and 925)

Why do you say that the 915 ad 925 were not decent mobos??

For intel processors, they were really good mboos. Nothing wrong with them. Especially if you bought a 9xx based mobo from MSI, DFI or Asus

what about 945 and 955 eh? :P the ones who bought the 915 and 925 will have to but a new board incase they go for DC....that sucks...

maybe the chipsets were good...but intel sucks :bleh:

Yup... the intel pci express chipset based boards are rock solid. Its a pity that it doesnt have good enuf cpus to complement the chipsets.

Nah Nikhil I wasn't saying that. 915 doesn't come with good features and 925, well it aint that great is it ?

Dunno about 945 and 955 though ;). Can anybody tell me if the 945 and 955 have been launched in India and at what prices, a freind wants to buy an Intel rig :P

What are you talking abt?? The 925X is a really good chipset. But as Chaos said, people do not buy these much due the bad performance of the processors.

But if you have to have an Intel processor and mobo, The 915 and 925 are really good chipsets. And keep in mind that the original Intel mobos are made for people on a budget. But if you want features, go for a mobo by a third party like DFI, MSI, Asus, etc....

But these companies cannot do anything for te performance of the chipsets which are pretty good. They can only add features.

I heard P4 820 (DC, 2.8gigs) + 945G and 512MB DDR2 was being sold in Lammy for 22K.....

In an article in tomshardware..it was shown that PCI-E 4x was more than sufficient for the present day graphics..the extra lanes provided no performance benefit.....lets hope the game developers come out with some surprises ;)

The 915 and 925 are takeing off where the 875P left....around the same performance as canterwood with some added benefits (which is good).

The 915 is special because it can take DDR2 and DDR1 depending on what the manufacturer chooses.

The 925...i dunno..similar to the 915

945, 955 is where things start to get good :p

Sata II, and GREAT performance as well as support for dual core cpu's

As far as availibility, i saw some posters in chennai advertising some 945. 955 ASUS boards....dunno know if they have actually reached the market yet tho...

BTW, all the intel chipsets are ROCK solid, and DFI makes an excellent 925 board.....sadly there 945/955 boards havnt been designed yet..meh, well see :)

The Intel SLi boards are having a very hard time with the Nforce 4 chipset :(, i had a friend that couldnt run 1:1 at stock, as well as some other problems :(

But as soon as Nvidia opens up SLi for use with other chipsets, everything will be fine :p
EDIT: i love how all you guys say intel procs have shit performance....jesus guys, its not that far behind O_O a few FPS in games + intel kicks AMD's ass in multitasking and encoding....single core

AMD's dual cores are much better than intel's dual core options.. (wow intel screwed up that one lol >_<)
