Nvidia is releasing a new version of its NVPerfKit application that promises to find rendering bugs and increase graphical performance. NVPerfKit version 2.1 is a suite of tools designed for analyzing and debugging OpenGL and Direct3D programs on both Linux and Windows. Nvidia claims the kits can increase average performance by as much as 35%.
A specialized driver, which gives performance counter data, is at the heart of the kit. The driver talks with the graphical program and GPU and shoots valuable statistics to a monitoring program. Nvidia is also including NVPerfHUD which offers real-time analysis of Direct3D applications and games.
NVPerfKit supports Nvidia GeForce 7, 6 and Quadro FX cards and is a free download at Nvidia's Developers
